BIA invites Scugog to help them celebrate a season of harvest With Thanksgiving quickly approaching, the Port Perry Business Improvement Area (BIA) is planning a “Celebra- tion of the Harvest” for Sunday, September 26. Local BIA merchants will hold a “Tent Sale” along Queen Street from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with ideas and merchan- dise for your fall celebrations. There will also be a Food Fair on the street with products from both local growers and garden stores, where you can Buy Fresh & Buy Local. There will be entertainment and kid’s activities all day long along Queen Street sponsored by the YMCA. Back this year by popular demand, the BIA’s third an- nual Silent Auction for a ‘Fall Centre Piece’. The creation will be on display on Queen street in front of the post office. After the success of last year’s popular “Chili Cook-Off” the BIA will once again host a hometown “Chili Cook-Off” with more than nine of our top commercial kitchens going head-to-head in a “heated” friendly competition for the “Best Chili in Port! “ Stop by, get your second annual chili mug, sample some chili and place your vote for the “People’s Choice” award for the number one taste in town! There will also be another category added to this year’s competition called the “Judges Choice”! Anew addition this year will be the ‘hands-free’ Pie Eating Contest sponsored by M&M Meats. This competition will challenge who can eat a whole pie in the least amount of time. Be sure to register on-line or in person at the BIA office if you think you have what it takes. A Juried Fine Art and Craft Exhibition/Port Perry's Boardwalk Art Fair, will be held in conjunction with the BIA’s Harvest Celebration and Chili Cook-Off.
