There were lots of spectacu- lar British Cars at the Port Pe BIA “Brits on the Lake” event last month - including, left, a 1973 Squire SS-100 owned by Paul and Jan Dullaert, Kitchener. Centre left. a group of car lovers inspect a1949 MG TC owned by Dick and Jan Tulley, Keene. “They marketed them in ’55 too, but those were just unsold 54’s!” “I had one of those,” a middle- aged man with a British accent tells us wistfully. I sense he’s with us in body, but he’s not in spirit. Lost among his memories. “Ninety-eight horsepower,” I tell another, serendipitously able to utilize a fact my father taught me only that morning. “It’s not power- ful, but man, ya sure look cool get- ting there!” I’m starting to sound like a ‘car-guy’. My father takes note, too, nodding at what he obviously agrees is an appropriate answer. Maybe I am, maybe not. After all, I still believe that particular passion’s bred in the bone. But definitely for that proud day shared with my dad and his baby, it’s almost certainly true.
