fAiquarama a huge success There were lots of smiles and happy people at last month’s 17th annual Aquarama event held along the shoreline of Lake Scugog in Port Perry. Fortunately the predicted rain stayed away and riders had a great day. The Rotary Club of Port Perry’s Aquarama regulars were challenged this year by a new course layout and an infestation of weeds, but it didn’t deter anyone. New first time riders, although apprehensive on their first time out, came back to shore with the traditional Aquarama “I did it!” grin and scrambled to shore to the cheers and hugs of teammates. Thanks to the participants, sponsors and volunteers this year’s Aquarama was another success, raising $11,625 for childrens’ charities. Results are as follows: Fastest Individual Time Highest Team Pledges - Andrew Liney at 1:20 - Devonport Divas Fastest Team Time Most Unusual Ride - Township Troopers - 8:26 - Rubber Chicken Award to Teresa Wallace “Spledge” (team time minus pledge bonus) - RIPP at 7:14 Highest Individual Pledges 1.
