It’s hard to believe, but with September already upon us - scenes like some of those on this page will get fewer as the temperatures begin to dip from the summer highs. Palmer Park has been a beehive of activity almost every weekend throughout the sum- mer months and the downtown has been busy with numerous events arranged by the local merchants and organizations. Some of these activities being car shows, motorcycle rallys, dog show, pow wow, tractor pulls, aquarama, demolition derby and the popular farmer’s market garden. In addition, the park and boardwalk along the lakefront have attracted hundreds, as a place to liesurely stroll or sit and listen to evening concerts at the gazebo. Photos on this page, from top right, shop- pers check out an entertainer at Silverside during Summer Breeze, people enjoying the benches, and new picnic tables in Palmer Park, a wedding takes place along the lakefront, and at bottom left, a hawk keeping an eye on the world from its perch atop a light standard at the Carolyn Best ball diamonds near the arena.
