UNITED WAY KICK-OFF Looking for a little break from the office at lunch- time? Then you might try heading down to the Port Perry United Way campaign kick-off. This year’s event takes place on Tuesday, September 13 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. in front of the Scugog Township municipal of- fices on Perry Street. While tempting your taste buds at the free barbeque, you | can watch some of the town- ship’s business people, politi- | cians and organizations compete for the coveted “Trike Race” championship. Guaranteed laughs and good fun for both spectators and competitors. The United Way is looking for more riders, so if you are interested in entering a team, contact Cheryl Manikas at 905-985-9399. The action begins at noon September 13 from 12 noon, don’t miss it! THE BOARDWALK ART FAIR The second annual Boardwalk Art Fair, sponsored by the Scugog Council for the Arts, takes place along Port Perry’s lakefront walk in Palmer Park later this month. Visitors and patrons will be able to stroll along the waterfront to view and purchase original works by regional and provincial artists in all types of media. In addition to the the “Boardwalk Art Fair” on Sunday, September 25, the Port Perry BIA will welcome visitors to Queen St. to enjoy special events and a chili cook-off as part of the annual “Celebrate the Harvest” event. Admission to both events is free and the “Board- walk Art Fair” will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. SAVOUR THE SEASON Durham “Savour the Season” is a 10 day culinary experience that will tempt the most seasoned diner. Three Port Perry restaurants, Harp & Wylies Ca- nadian Grill House, Front Porch Bistro and Salvatore’s Trattoria are among the 30 restaurants throughout Durham Region that will be creating exclusive prix fixe menus and serving up mouth watering dishes.
