Work Begins On Walkway Repairs to the popular boardwalk in Rotary Park, near the boat launch, are finally underway. Work was scheduled to be- gin last week with Scugog Township crews clearing the site of brush, in preparation for the installation of the piers. The total budg- eted cost of this much needed project _— is $107,000 with $60,000 coming from an On- tario Trillium Founda- tion grant; $2,000 from West Shore Retirement Village Community Ad- visory Board, and the remaining $45,000 from the Rotary Club of Port Perry. The new piers for ie walkway will b installed by EBS Engi- neering and Construction Limited of Breslau, Ontario, and the decking by GVG Construction of Oshawa. The Township of Scugog is clearing the site for construc- tion and installing the 12 new benches, which are designed for the Canadian climate and are made of recycled plastic and steel frame work with an anti-corrosion finish. John Richardson, speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club, told Focus On Scugog they were expecting the work would be completed within a month and an opening ceremony could be held around the first week of October.
