This great family outing takes place at the Cartwright Field in Nestleton, on Oct. 14, and promises to be a fun day for all. There’s lots of events and challenges for young and old. Indi- viduals and organizations can compete for the bragging rights of the best tasting chili, or enter your giant pumpkin in the pumpkin growing contest (dollar pledges increase the size of the pumpkin)! A silent auction also awaits your bidding. There is a Teddy Bear picnic, a scavenger hunt, pumpkin dec- orating contests and lots of activities for the kids. Volleyball and horseshoes add to the day’s program, and local entertainers will take the stage to complete the day’s events. It’s all happening in Nestleton, Oct. 14. Kathryn Cotton, Supervisor of the new Port Perry YMCA Childcare Centre, made the announcement recently, saying they will be joining the community to offer services to children ages 2.5 to 10 years of age. All children must be toilet trained. The centre, which will be located in Good Shepherd Catholic School, will be open Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Children will receive a high quality curriculum led by experi- enced Early Childhood Educators. The programs will include indoor and outdoor activities, morning and afternoon snacks, and hot lunches prepared on site. An Open House for the new YMCA Childcare Centre will be held on Thursday, Sept 14 from 2:30 - 6:30 p.m. Anyone inter- ested in learning more is invited to attend.
