Imagine how people with hearing aids are affected by the ringing? Many parents are very upset by it. If more people speak up about it, then the quicker that we can have this issue dealt with”. Thumbs Up - to San Pail and his owners, Glenn Van Camp of Port Perry and Rod Hughes of Dunsford 3g for winning the distinction of Canadian bred horse of the year 2011. San Pail has a winning history and is no stranger to accolades but this award was the first time the Standardbred breed has been tecognized by Equine Canada at its awards night. With San Pail being named Canada’s Harness Horse of the Year 2011 just weeks before, this latest award proves that this trotter is indeed a Canadian treasure. Thumbs Up - to the Port Perry Star for their decision to send reporter Chris Hall to Guatemala with 3g the more than dozen medical professionals from Scugog who are going from February 18-26. Our superb medical personnel give selflessly in their efforts to bring help and hope to the poorest of the poor. We applaud the Star for giving Chris Hall the opportunity to document, for our community, the experiences the Scugog team will undergo as they try to make a differ- ence in the lives of people who can only dare to hope. Thumbs Down - to Lake Scugog’s continued reputation as a trouble spot for snowmobiler’s driving on the © lake in unsafe conditions. We recently made the news on CBC radio as they interviewed drivers and asked them bluntly why they drove in and around open water. Their response, and thankfully these people are only a small segment of our population was embar- rassing, “we know there is open water but we try to stay away from it, eh.” It goes without saying that not much more can be said to people who think like this. Next time they have to be fished out, lets make sure it hits them where they may store their brain, in their wallets. 42-02-20. 10:42 AM
