Happenings at the Scugog heritage centre The Scugog Shores Museum is having a Grand Opening for their latest exhibit “The Doctor Will See You Now”, on March 11 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free. This newest exhibit fea- tures a recent generous donation of artifacts from the Port Perry Hospital and a history of medical records on loan from the Archives of Ontario. The exhibit will be on display at the Scugog Shores Heritage Centre (2nd floor of the Scugog Arena) and will run until May 18, Tuesday through Sunday, 11:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m. Admission $4.00 for adults, $3.00 students and seniors, $2.00 children 5-12. On March 25, Susan Charbonneau speaks on ‘Preserving Your Past’ where she will discuss some of the methods and materials you can use to preserve your family’s heirlooms. On April 15, Paul Arculus presents “Durant’s Right-hand Man”. Paul is the author of this new book and he will uncover the story of aman whose life saw the beginning of the great age of the automobile. e Lecture Series will be held at the Scugog. Scugog Arts presents new exibition For their first solo exhibition of 2012 the Scugog Council of Arts presents Gesture and Motion, by Barbara Ponomareff. Barbara is a retired child psychotherapist who now pursues her life long interest in art and writing. She has received recognition throughout Durham, participating in group and solo shows since 2009. With Gesture and Motion, Barbara explores gesture as body movement which expresses psychological impulses or feelings, evoking a response in the viewer. Her interest in psychology underlies her preoccupation with layers of colour, things hidden beneath and barely visible. The exhibition will open on March 3 witha reception from 1:00p.m to 4 p.m. Gesture and Motion will run until March 24 at the Scugog Arts Resource Centre at 181 Perry St., Unit G-1.
