Dog ‘do-do’ worse than ‘horse buns’ Dear Editor read the letter giving a “thumbs down’ for some horse owners with disbelief, since I was raised ona farm and lived all my life in the country. The next thing that our transplanted neighbour will be asking for is that if a farmer loses some part of his load from his “manure spreader”, or dirt from his tires is messing the road, that he should carry a shovel to pick it up on his way back to the manure pile for another load. This is not Yonge Street in Toronto, this is rural. The farmer and horses were here 200 years before her, and “horse buns” will only last through two rains before it washes away. It’s not like “dog do-do” in the grass of a park that sticks to your shoes and anything that it touches. Give me a break, this is part of the charm and ambi- ance of living in the country. Enjoy, and if it is that bad for you, contact the local real estate sales office. The scoring of schools by this method creates animosity, stress, and reduces education to a numbers game. I am saddened that this how you chose to mea- sure the success of our wonderful public schools. Becky Musta, Port Perry Editors Note: It is the Fraser Institute who measures the success of elementary and high schools in Ontario, not the media. Since it’s the job of media to report news and events that take place in our community, it’s short- sighted to “shoot the messenger”. Thanks ladies for their assistance Dear Editor lam writing this letter to thank the ladies at Port Perry Employment Resource Centre for their guidance in helping me attain my long term goal of earning my A/Z driver's license. I spoke with Susan, at Employment Centre and scheduled a meeting to talk to her about the program. There was more leg work to do but she was able to get me on the right track. After a long application process I finally turned (with great help from Susan) my long term goal into a short term goal of achieving my A/Z license. I am now enrolled in the Ontario Truck Training Program and on my way to long term employment. There is a lot to be said about living in a small town like Port Perry. The hard work and dedication that Su- san Parson’s puts into her job to help people like me to achieve thier goals is amazing. I would like to sincerly thank her and the other ladies for what they have done for me. Jamie Chatfield Port Perry Looking for the Right One?
