Lie © : yer at TYRONE MILLS - TYRONE Built in 1846, the Tyrone Mill is one of Canada’s oldest operating water powered mills still employing methods and machinery of the last century. In operation since it opened 165 yeas ago, this work: ing, water stone ground wheat flour, maple syrup, honey and cheese as well as lumber, lumber products and custom milling are available. Dur- ing apple season in September until June, the mill also produces fresh apple cider and cider donuts. An antique woodworking shop is located on the second floor. THOMAS FOSTER MEMORIAL - UXBRIDGE This hidden treasure is inspired by the Taj Mahal. Architectural features include solid bronze doors, stain glass windows, rich ter- tazzo floors and marble mosaic designs. Open every Friday night from May to October - 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. the Foster holds concerts with a different entertainers - classical, acoustic guitar, alternative folk, popular, Broadway and musicals. During July and August the Foster Memorial is open for tours on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sataurday and Sunday 12 nooon to 4 p.m. Open in June, September and October by appointment only. PARKWOOD - OSHAWA Parkwood is one of Canada’s finest and last remaining grand es- tates, featuring architectural, landscape and interior designs of the 1920's and 1930's. Once home to auto baron R. Samuel McLaugh- lin (founder of General Motors of Canada), Parkwood is praised by Canada’s Historic Site and Monuments Board as “a rare surviv- ing example of the type of estate developed in Canada during the inter-war years, and is rarer still by its essentially intact condition, furished and run to illustrate as it was lived within. Parkwood is open to the public and its summer hours are daily from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until Labour Day! DURHAN-YORK RAILWAY - UXBRIDGE The York-Durham Heritage Railway operates tourist trains be- tween Uxbridge and Stouffville on a rail line built in the late 1860s know as the ipissing Railway Exp ture at its best, while travelling over the Oak Ridges Moraine.
