Hopes Focus readers will help Dear Editor Re: Scugog Samaritans - August 2012 I was fortunate to be able to travel with Karen Stiller to refugee camps in South Sudan where Samaritan’s Purse is playing a leading assistance role. Karen mentioned in her article that she has always known Samaritan’s Purse as “the Christmas Shoebox people.” She is referring to our Operation Christmas Child program that enlists Canadians to pack gift- filled shoeboxes which we distribute to needy children around the world. I'm hopeful that Focus on Scugog readers will join the many thousands of other Canadians who will be pack- ing shoe boxes again for us in 2012. With your help, we are preparing to distribute the 100-millionth shoe box since the worldwide program began 22 years ago. Collection Week this year is from Nov. 19 to 25, so please start packing! They worked very hard to establish a successful business over 16 years and they deserve better. Shame on you! Hundreds of customers in Port Perry will continue to do business with Allen's Electronics and hopefully your corporate store will flounder. Your busi- ness plan is totally thoughtless and it appears that greed is your motive. Apparently, Allen’s substantial increase in sales over the past year was too much to ignore. We ask you to please establish a franchise somewhere else where it may be needed and won't disrupt the business of honest dedicated hard working people who serve this community. They deserve better than the way Bell Canada has treated them. This is your home town. Think about it and do the right thing. Don’t point finger at all cabbies Dear Editor Re: August Thumbs Down I would like to somewhat thank the reader who sug- gested taxi drivers are friendly, but at the same time not paint all of “the drivers who sit in their seats and watch customers struggle”, with the same brush! My wish would be that you contact the company responsible to have these issues resolved, rather than pointing your finger at all drivers, while sending your message out (Thumbs Down) to everyone in Scugog that all are “lazy”, when in fact it may only be one or two!
