That first auxil- iary took on the job of fur- nishing the hospital with bed linens and hospital gowns. Flash forward 60 years and we find this dedicated group of volunteers has not wavered from the ideals of its found- ing members — to support and provide the services, furnish- ings and equipment required to operate the local hospital. Anne Wright, the current president of the auxiliary, expounds on her pride for the accomplishments of the auxil- iary. “Last year we raised over $74,000 to be used for hospital equipment and supplies,” she said with obvious pride. “This year the top fundraisers have been the Polar Plunge and the Tag Day. The members raised just under $18,000 at the Plunge and over $10,000 on Tag Day.” Mary Jane Inglis, the auxiliary’s treasurer added, “Our latest endeavour is Camille’s Closet, our second hand shop on Perry Street. It opened in 2010 and is well on the way to becoming a top money earner too.” When asked how the auxiliary chooses its proj- ects for the hospital, Anne explained that the hospital staff is asked each year to issue a priority list for capital equipment and the auxiliary selects from that Jeanne Dymond First President of the Port Perry Hospital Auxiliary “Last year we raised over $74,000 to be used for hospital equipment and supplies”. ... We have an amazing hospital here and we need to make sure that it continues to meet the need of our community.
