Ml atx -ovinnan It’s ‘Movember’ and the boys are Dear Editor Last October, my neighbour Scott Wylie and I decid- ed to combine efforts and start a Movember campaign to raise awareness for men’s health issues — specifically prostate cancer and mental health initiatives. We thought it would be fun, great for the community, and positive for men’s health issues. Movember participants are required to grow a mous- MOVIES ~ MOVIES ~ MOVIES Can’‘t Find It? Not a beard, not a goatee — a moustache. The itchiness and unusual looks aside, those of us with a ‘better half’ experienced a period of, how should I say, loneliness. It was a much bigger sacrifice than anyone had anticipated. Our goal was to build a Movember team in Port Perry and hopefully raise $5,000. We hit that goal in the first week. Our team kept growing and growing. Local business owners, doctors, etc., all jumped on board to help the cause. By the end of ‘Movember’ we had 78 members raising money and most importantly - grow- ing a moustache. Total raised last year was more than $22,000. We are hoping to increase our efforts this year. Any- one wishing to participate can email me at Al. Delaney@ InvestorsGroup.com or just Google ‘Movember’ and you will be taken to the Canadian site. Once you sign in, you can then search for the Port Perry Mo Bros where you will be able to join our team and participate in all the fun events and prizes that we do for our local team.
