For others, a select few, war was a reality, now embedded in their thoughts forever. One such person is Port Perry resident Leon Hogg. On December 8th, 1944, Leon landed at Ely, near Cambridge, England after com- pleting his first tour of 30 bombing mis- sions over Europe. He had beaten the odds of 1 in 5 losses of his Lancaster Squadron. During that tour Leon met Daphne Valentine, a young intelligence officer and after a short, two month courtship, the two were married. Their honeymoon was short lived, for soon after the ceremony Leon was shipped off to India for a two year stay.
