» Thumbs Thumbs Down - With leaves having fallen and blan- keted the ground, the familiar ear piercing sound of leaf blowers is underway. We recently watched a maintenance company blow leaves off a customer's property onto the street, rather than gathering and stuffing them into bags. Maybe Forrest Gump was right when he said, “stupid is as stupid does.” Thumbs UP - Canada Post's recent expansion of services to Shopper's Drug Mart is commendable, making Jf postal services more accessible to the public with expanded hours. In addition, this new full service fa- cility should take some of the pressure off the increasingly busy and congested downtown facility. This will especially be appreciated throughout the busy Christmas season. Thumbs Down - A Scugog resident feels that Uxbridge Driver should get a ‘thumbs down’ for their recent policy of charging non-residents of the township $50 more a year for the use of Uxpool. She feels users from Sunderland, Saintfield, Greenbank, Port Perry and all the other small towns who have supported Uxpool all these years are being treated unfairly. “If an increase was needed it should have been passed on to all users equally,” she writes. Thumbs Up - to teacher Lori Lowes and students from =a Grades 4 and 5 of R.H. Cornish Public School for 3g the stirring rendition of “In Flanders Field” they recit- ed at the Remembrance Day service on November 11. No doubt the familiar poem had many veterans, sitting nearby, reflecting on a time long ago. We're sure they were proud of the youngsters... as are we. Congratulations! 71 Thumbs Up - one of our readers suggest giving a ‘thumbs aa 3 up’ to Durham Transit for changing the bus route B57 destination banners with ‘Lest We Forget’ leading up to Remembrance Day. “I was very proud to see this message highlighted so many times during my travels over the past few weeks! | am quite sure veterans, their families and the rest of the community were similarly impressed”, she says, and gives them a big thumbs up!
