Sincerely, David Shepherd A Canvasser for the Port Perry United Church Auction Seniors deserve the best resources Dear Editor Several years ago when my mother Eleanor was no longer able to live successfully alone in her home, Thad to assist her frequently to maintain her state of optimal well being; however, it was a three hour commute from my home to hers. I am a single mother and worked full time with limited means during this phase of my mother’s life. It was not until a later time that I realized Eleanor, and myself assisting her, could have received assis- tance from the community. I simply didn’t know which way to turn to help her. I experienced stress, fear and helplessness. I be- lieve that if Eleanor or I were aware of the assistance available for her, her life would have been very differ- ent. Eleanor has now passed on. My mother tried to do the best for herself and I wanted to be there for her during this vulnerable time in her life. It is with respect and passion that I created Select For Seniors as a guide to quality resources and services that offer discounts, fair or the best pricing, kindness and a sense of security to Seniors in our Scugog com- munity.
