Candlelight walk and Christmas tree lighting planned for Nov. 14 With less than two months until Christmas arrives, the Port Perry BIA is getting ready for its “Tis The Season To Shop Local” campaign. On Friday, November 14th, the an- nual Candlelight Walk and Tree Light- ing Extravaganza takes place. Here’s a chance for the family to meet Santa and his reindeer in the candlelight procession along Queen Street for the lighting of the trees. Candle sales start at 6:30 p.m. in Palmer Park and at the Gazebo The procession will move up Queen Street to light the large tree in front of the Scugog Township office building. The ac- tivities continue in front of the post office to light up Santa’s Hut and then back to Palmer Park where you can enjoy Christ- mas music, hot chocolate and cookies. Also enjoy roasting marshmallows with your kids to keep you warm and in the holiday spirit! We heard that Mrs. Claus and one of the mighty elves from Santa’s work- shop might be coming this year too! Stores will be open until 9 p.m. dur- ing the tree lighting to help you get a jump on your holiday shopping!
