Her closet i is full of ribbons and medals and there is a shelf already bulging wii trophies from her many competitions. “She's very netaemninad: ” Laura says of her daughter. “We'll see where this takes her. The next place that Holly's passion for dance is taking her is to Poland in December. Her successful audition landed Holly a spot on the Canadian Dance Team, and she will be competing in two groups, one for ballet and a smaller group for pointe. This is Holly’s first international competition, and she is “very excited about this opportunity.” “T love to compete,” she commented. Laura will accompany Holly on the 10-day trip to the small resort town north of Warsaw where the event is being held. Dad Paul Myles will stay home with their Golden Retriever, Lily. Both of Holly’s parents are devoted to helping their daughter develop her dancing career. Although they reside in Port Perry, they drive her to O’Neill CVI, a school for the performing arts, in Oshawa where Holly attends Grade 9. After supper, it’s back to Oshawa to Hoofers Dance Studio for more practice. Laura described Holly’s dance teacher Mrs. King as, ‘kind, gentle and encouraging.” Paul Myles happily spends hours at night in the dance studio while Holly practices. He doesn’t mind waiting a bit. “It puts a smile on my face when I tell everyone about her accom- plishments,” he says with pride. Her dance classes at school keep Holly on her toes about six hours a week, plus she dances for 7-15 hours weekly at Hoofers. As if this isn’t enough exercise, Holly just completed her Bronze Cross in swimming. She did her aquatic train- ing locally at Swimkids and Birdseye Pool. Holly eats a healthy diet because she needs a lot of energy. Her mom packs her a nutritious lunch every day, with two vegetables, two fruits, nuts and a sandwich. But Holly also likes cake. One of her favourite TV shows is Cake Boss. She learned how to professionally decorate cakes, and she made her own three- tier birthday cake last year. Holly and a friend baked all of the cup- cakes for her grade eight graduation. With the same determination for perfection that she has as a swimmer and a dancer, Holly has finally mas- tered butter cream roses, and she was excited about a recent fondant sale.
