Mailbo (Gettersito theleditor (continued from page 2) Car Club celebrating 25th year Dear Editor In the fall of 1990 a few car buffs formed the Cruisin’ Classics Car Club with an interest in the preservation and restoration of 1989 and older cars and trucks. The club has grown from the occasional gathering to weekly cruise-ins Tuesday nights at Emmanuel Community Church on Reach Street. While some members have their original classics, many have purchased or restored other vintage vehicles. On July 28th we will celebrate our 25th year with fun, food and favours! The first 100 participants will receive tote bags courtesy of the club. Coffee and timbits will be available for all. Entertainer Scott Handel will sing while church members will sell sausages, hotdogs and hamburgers. The theme is “70s” Night with a Car of the Week award provided by Chuck & Beth Willes and Mark Willes Automotive. Luck of the Draw prizes have been donated by Napa Auto Parts, Gus Brown Buick GMC, Island Fries and Benson Auto Parts. Dash plaques sponsored by Emmerson Insurance may still be available for first-time cruisers. We wish to invite everyone to join us at this Silver Anniversary event. There is ample parking for both participants and spectators. It is wonderful and appreciated. A huge thank you to the community, local businesses and over 100 volunteers who made our annual Tag Days a success. We surpassed last year’s total and raised $8977.33 on June 4 and 5. All the money raised goes directly to the Auxiliary Port Perry Hospital pledge of $350,000 to “Your Hospital - Your Future’ campaign. We love our hospital! We continue to appreciate the generous support over the forty years plus of ‘tagging’ from our community. Thank You.
