Retirement Ling on the Shares y Keke Saugag EIST SHORE VILLAGE In the spring of 1995, a local developer, Gary Moore, had anidea for a seniors’ housing theatre, are all part of the fun of living at West Shore Village. The elegant dining room overlooks Lake Scuogog, a scenic patio, gazebo and gardens. In 1995 three investors joined to provide! the funds and advice needed His dream came true in the form of West Shore Village, a sprawling lakeside development which boasts a main residence large enough to accommodate 75 people and 29 on-site bungalows. “It’s more than just a facility,” explained Debbie March, an employee of West Shore Village since 1999. “It’s like a home here. In 1997, Mr. Moore hired Tammy Brandenburg for assistance with administrative matters, and the investors recommended Neil Hunter join the company as a consultant. It must have been a proud moment, in the spring of 1997, when the first four houses were complete, and the historic first residents moved in. By November of that year, eight houses were occupied, and work started on enclosing the main building. Mr. Moore resigned from the company in early 1998, and Mr. Hunter assumed the role of President. By May of 1999, people began to settle in the main building, and Metcap Living Management Inc. Embracing the community for 20 years assumed responsibility for the Fran Herder and John Richardson formed a Community Advisory Committee to help promote West Shore Village, generate community relations, and plan initiatives that helped support charitable causes in the Scugog area. The remaining two housing units of Phase 1 were completed in January of 2000, and all sixteen units were soon occupied. At this time, design work commenced on Phase Il. ‘The first three housing units were completed and occupied by the spring of 2003, and all thirteen were ready by the spring of 2005. In 2004 it was decided that the company would assume ibility for the admini: Karen Arbuckle joined from the staff of Metcap and continued in her former role. Tammy Brandenburg rejoined the company as accountant in 2007, and when Mrs. Arbuckle left the company, Tammy stepped in as General Manager. The presence of a long term, caring staff, resident council, village advisory committee and garden committee, help West Shore Village to continue to be a successful family owned retirement community.
