8 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, January 7, 1992 Letters fo the editor Need council support To the Editor: -- .- The Ontario Bill 143, Yegarding inspection of property by the Pro-- vince for waste disposal sites, is a definite trespass on the rights of ownership. It would seem, farmers will be more affected b this than any individua homeownet, as that is where waste disposal site will be situated. Se Is this just another further ste by government to control the rights of farmers? It would seem the Provincial Government, is creating an environment, wherein more and more farmers will be losing production and will even- tually be forced to sell their pro- perty. Now we have the next step, where governments wish to have open rights, to enter and inspect property at any time, without any notice or without seeking the owner's permission. Councillor Dietlein, in his letter to the editor, on this matter, is very astute and very aware of what is transpi to notice such matters, on behalf of the proper- A ers, in the Scugog area. is "is 'something which all farmers should acknowledge and further should be prepared to ask council, to make representation to the Ontario Government, in op- position to Bill 143. : Representation by Scugo Council, would be much more et- fective, than one or two in- dividuals making this representa- tion. Specifically, it would seem this is an Por paton which Scugog Council should follow through on and I would suggest Councillor David Dietlein, might be the in- stigator of such a motion at council. Yours very truly, Doug Wilson, Oshawa Thanks for memories From Page 7 pathy, with all the different na- ionalities who have to go through the saine procedure. When I was married I was so pleased to change my surname to Mead, which I was sure no one could do anything to, to change it. Wrong again - most people add an E! And if I spell my name for so- meone writing it down or taking it over the telephone they in- variably spell it Maed. I now spell it ME (long hesitation) AD, and that seems to do the trick. For those people unfamiliar with the term, Hoar-frost is de- fined in the Concise Oxford Dic- tionary as being "frozen water "| vapor deposited in clear still weather on lawns, etc." It doesn't sound too different from any other type of frost, as far as we're concerned, but it sure did look beautiful. And, thanks to a lack of wind, the Hoar-frost hung around for a couple of days. Photos by Julia Dempsey
