"A Family Tradition for 125 Years" Brooklin Concrete Products held an Open House last week to mark their 40th year in business. Landscapers, architects, retailers and friends visited the familiar Brooklin based plant to tour the state-of-the-art facility and view some of the more than 200 lines produced by the company. Captain Don Steele was pro- moted to deputy chief, lieuten- ant Irv Gibson to the rank of captain, and firefighter John Foster to lieutenant. These appointments were necessary as deputy chief Char- lie Lown intends to retire in May. Although the fire department was hoping to make these ap- pointments permanent, the Township of Scugog Council de- feated the motion. It however passed another motion stipulating that these appointments. would be for three months, pending the deci- sion of a full-time fire chief. The township has been debat- ing whether or not to create the position of a full-time chief. In a recent article in the Port Perry Star, Mayor Howard Hall sug- gested that this position could be created later this year. "I think we're at the stage where we need one," he said. 6pc.
