Public disapproval is badly needed so please don't leave the matter to someone else -- do try to be there. Sympathy is extended to Karen Kyte on the passing of her fiance An- thony Kovoto after a gallant fight against cancer. Our thoughts are with David and Donna Kyte and family at this sad time in their lives. At the annual Can Pro Industry awards held last Tuesday in Toron- to, 'Search For A Stranger' a per- sonal T.V. film documentary, was named the best news documentary special produced in Canada. The half hour T.V. film was written and roduced by Craig Paisley of .F.C.N,, Calgary, Alberta who with his co-producer and director Graham Bond and photographer Jim Maule travelled here last Oct. at Thanksgiving time to shoot footage in Blackstock and the sur- rounding area. This award winning by Joyce Kelly special has been purchased by W5 a News and a condensed version of the film will be aired Easter Sunday even- ing, April 19 on Channel 9, CFTO, Toronto. Heartiest congratulations, Craig. The "snowbirds" are returning from their winter in Florida. What weather we had to show them on Saturday and Sunday. That certain- ly was quite a display of snow and ice and very slushy roads. Harold and Jean Kyte and Dalton and Kathleen Dorrell are two couples that have been seen in the village. Connie Swain and Eileen McLaughlin enjoyed a tour to Boston with Barb Porter's Plus Bus recently. Weather conditions were quite snowy there as well as here. They report a great tour of that area. Better health is wished for Mar- jorie Bradburn, Belle Werry, Mur- ray Coates and Ruth Thompson who are all in Port Perry Hospital. Cecil Gibson is continuing to recuperate following surgery at home. Attending from this area were Gerald and Joyce Kelly, Elaine and Esther and Ralph and Peggy Larmer who joined members of the Peeters family for the celebration. Cartwright seniors held a pot luck dinner the first Tuesday of each month. On Tuesday an excellent din- ner was enjoyed before the card party. Winners at the euchre which has 14 tables were Violet Linton, Albert Watts, Carl Ferguson, Ver- na Slute, Jim Rodman, Ruby Cochrane and Vera Fawns. Draws were won by Doreen Ferguson, Ruby Cochrane, Lorna Swain, Muriel Butson, Violet Linton, Jean Porrill and George Allison. Last Sunday afternoon a large group of ladies gathered at the C.E. Room of the United Church for a community bridal shower in honor of bride-to-be Carla Adams who is to be married on Saturday, April 25. Many beautiful gifts were received and opened by Carla. During the afternoon two interesting contests were conducted and enjoyed. Carla thanked everyone and a social time enjoyed over a bountiful lunch. On April 6 the Parents Association met at the Cartwright Central Public School. Four teachers, Mrs. McCullough, Mrs. Bradburn, Mrs. Elliot and Mrs. Hopkins made an ex- cellent presentation on Reading and Writing in the Early Grades. Scugog Council has approved new crossing lines for Old Scugog and Alexandra Streets with new lines and signs. Lottery tickets are out and may be purchased from any student. Your support is solicited. The Blackstock United Church is holding a Talent Auction on Friday evening, April 25 beginning at 7 p.m. Any donations of talent of any kind can be donated to the auction CFTO has its Eyes on Scugog CFTO TV's "Eye on Toronto" staff were in Port Perry on Thursday filming a feature on Hank's Pastries and Luke's Country Store, both on Queen Street, to air Thursday, April 23.
