Approximately 100 sisters and brothers from various Chapters made for a fine evening of sociabili- ty. W.M. Laura and W.P. Five P.D.D.G.M.s were welcomed - Bessie Cosway, Betty Dowden, Audrey De Beaupre, Ada Ormiston, and our own Marg. Jeffrey. The five Worthy Matrons and four worthy patrons present and the many other sisters and brothers were given a warm, fraternal welcome; a tremendous evening for all present! They have many lovely items on hand for a draw and do hope all members will support our fine benevolent Chapter and help celebrate in style! Mark your calen- dar for this special event. The Altar was draped in loving memory of Marie Woodward, Past Grand Matron of Ontario. Before the draping ceremony, our W.M. Laura read a beautiful little , ayer. After Grand Conductress Joan Esdale spoke briefly - she honored Bonnie Windsor by inviting her to be her Page at the Grand Chapter in the fall. Bonnie expressed her pleasure and accepted the honor. Our congratulations to Bonnie and she will be terrific! The Grand Associate Conductress Jan Lan- shelle wished the Chapter well in her remarks. This being Conductresses and Star Points night, they were honored at the close of the Chapter. After Chapter closed a delicious informal buffet was enjoyed, con- vened by Pamela Henshall, Judy Mitchell and Mary Alton. The White Elephant table under the direction of Marilyn Jones...sales were brisk and the money is rolling in. Good work! A fine evening of fellowship for Blue Ray. We have a warm spot in our hearts for Assoc. Patron Fred Alton for keeping us all on our toes with his ready wit and delightful sense of humor! Keep up the good work Brother Fred. Guests were present from Durham, Whitby, Sunbeam, Markham, Fidelity, Sunland, Lind- say, West Hill and Cookstown. Durham walked away with the travelling gavel having the most members present. Cancer Drive in Progress The door to door canvass for funds for Cancer re - search is in progress in the Cartwright area, and will be completed by April 30. The girls of this area are striving to have a strong campaign and 'Cancer can be beaten" we are assured of that! The canvassers need the full month to complete the drive as so man folks are not back from the sou yet! Watch for the canvasser - when she calls give as generously as possible. The fight against Cancer is everyones fight! Canvassers are one of the most important represen- tatives of the society - they are one of the key contacts with the public, providing information about the work, as well as raisi funds. That concludes my little "bundle" of news for this week. $0 8% 0 8 8 8% 8H EET YY. | |
