"A Family Tradition for 125 Years" PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, April 21, 1992 - 23 Effective parenting _As a parent you are on the firing line every day, confronted by enough problems to confound a Solomon. And yet, if you are like most parents, you have little or no preparation for the job. Only for the Job of parenting is there the unspoken expectation that love, in- stinct and common sense will be enough. And sometimes it is, more often, however, the most well- intentioned parents find themselves frustrated, angry, bewildered, guil- ty and alone. Like members of any other professional group you and your fellow parents need the oppor- tunity to get together to share your common problems and receive con- tinuing training in the skills needed to do your job better. The Family Education Resource Centre of Durham House is offering a session discussion group for parents which will focus on understanding children's behavior and encouraging children. The group will meet at S.A. Cawker Public School, Port Perry on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. starting April 15. The cost is $44 per person and pre- registration is required. For more information and to register please contact 579-2021 or 686-4353. Maps and other study materials will also be available. | Over the past months, and with the assistance of government ministries and | What are the Options? The new facilities that could be required beginning in 2002 include two 500,000 volt (500 kV) single-circuit transmission lines from Hanmer Transformer Station near Sudbury to a new transformer station in the northeast GTA. This transformer station ! would be connected by a new 500 kV double-circuit transmission line to existing lines to the east and northwest of Toronto, terminating at existing or new transformer or switching stations. Sections of right-of-way in the GTA could include new 230 kV lines to connect these new facilities into the existing local power supply system. Considering potential long term needs, a third 500 kV single-circuit line | between Sudbury and the Toronto area and a second 500 kV and 230 kV double- circuit line around the north and east GTA could also be required. In addition to identifying new transmission routes, the study will consider using existing transmission rights-of-way. Public Involvement Public involvement is an integral component of the environmental assessment process. The complete route and site selection study will be documented in an environmental assessment report and submitted to the Minister of the Environment for review in mid-1994, and will be the subject of a public hearing under the Consolidated Hearings Act. .
