'Residents were kept busy preparing for the Spring Bazaar By Hazel Zoller The residents spent many days for the remainder of this month preparing for the Spring Bazaar, most of which involved baking various goods consisting of turkey pies, fruit pies, vege- table beef and turkey soup, tarts and squares. Others made silk scarves, cotton shirts im- printed with leaves and flowers. Some of the men painted wood- work. Despite these busy days, resi- dents found time for other activ- ities. Wednesday, April 8, we read poems on spring. On Fri- day, April 10, Bernie Black came to play the piano, told jokes and requested some old songs. At Bible Care College we learned about the "cost" of fol- lowing Jesus. Monday, April 13, residents enjoyed bingo on the third floor including residents who nor- mally do not attend. Others made 137 1/4 pounds of Easter eggs. 'I'uesday, April 14, grade 6 students came to talk and ask questions about the depression for a school project. Wednesday, April 15, Port Perry U.C.W. sponsored the monthly birth- day party. Ashley Faux sang and tap danced, while others played the piano and violin. Monday, April 20, there was a food quiz for mental excercises followed by an Easter story from the Friendship book. Tues- day, April 21, Rita Boe won the Easter scavenger hunt of hid- den chocolate eggs. On Thursday, April 23, shrimp was served at the Sup- per Club with English trifle made by the residents. After lis- tening to music, they had a sea shore quiz. On Friday, April 24, a Bunny contest was held. Residents had to say Pug- gy Bunny with as many marsh- mellows as they could fit into their mouths. Rabies Clinic May On Thursday evening there were 10 tables of euchre. The winners for the evening; ladies: Caroline Haugh, Verna Draper, Olive Ormiston. Men: Earla Hill, Richard Manns, Harry Hill. Lucky draws: Clara Whit- ter, Elsie Forbes, Mary Cannon. Euchres are every Thursday evening. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. N Mrs. Pearl Gostick and Ilean Pugh attended the 50th Wed- ding Anniversary of Mrs. Go- sticks niece Marjorie and Gor- don Smith at Stouffville on Saturday. To all U.C.W. members re- member the monthly meeting next week on Wednesday, May "13 at 8 p.m. in church hall. Roll call: Paper products for Denise House.
