The May meeting of Honey- dale Women's Institute was held in the Anglican Church Hall on May 7. We were very pleased to have an excellent at- tendance of 27 including visi- tors. Our President, Clara War- ren, opened the meeting with the singing of the Opening Ode and the repeating of the Insti- tute Creed, following which a special welcome was extended to all those present. The Roll Call "Good ways to advertise our meeting," was an- swered with many interesting suggestions. The minutes of the last meet- ing, with the slate of officers for the ensuing year were read and adopted. A good financial report was given by our treasurer. Helen Dann consented to take the office of second vice president, which had not been filled during the election of offi- cers at the April meeting. Thank you Helen! A beautiful quilt was on dis- play which is to be raffled off in the fall. A special thanks to El- sie Pogue and her helpers for completing this project. Plans are underway to sell tickets on this lovely quilt. There was a discussion re- garding the storing of our "Tweedsmuir History" book at the museum, where we know they will be well cared for, and available for anyone who wish- es to refer to them. It was brought to our atten- tion that one of our charter members Mae Raines had re- cently celebrated her 100th birthday. Administrator-Clerk We do extend our very best wishes on this special anniver- sary. We were reminded of the an- nual meeeting of Ontario South Women's Institute to be held in Myrtle United Church on Thursday, May 28, hoping many of our members will be able to attend. The motto for this month was "Gardens are like friends, the better your cultivate them, the better they grow." Appropriate readings and comments were given by those on the program committee, including Mary Cannon, Marion Johnston, Hel- en Thomson, Edna Wilson and Lillian Harper, which gave us food for thought, particularly at this the beginning of our gar- dening season, and with our en- vironmental concerns. A spe- cial thanks to the committee for their worthwhile contributions to the program. The meeting was closed with the singing of the "Hymn of All Nations" and the Institute grace followed by a social time over lunch at which time we all signed a "thinking of you" card to be sent to Ethel Freeman to- let her know that we all wish her well in her recovery. We are also looking forward to attending a party on June 6 at Prince Albert Hall to help celebrate Pearl Gostick's 90th birthday and to extend to her our very best wishes.
