Hair-razing entertainment as 30 men shaven for moustache & beard contest By Rhonda Fraser Secretary Scugog Shores Museum Vil- lage was awed by the tremen- dous support shown by the com- munity in its 2nd Annual Yard and Bake Sale held on Victoria Day. More than $1,000 was raised which will be used to help with operating and main- taining the buildings that com- prise our "Village." A heart-felt thank you is ex- tended to the Historical Society for their baked contributions and help in manning tables; John Ross, Meating Place and Ken Carruthers, Country Style Donuts for baking and provid- ing the pies; Zula Hall for the donation of baked goods; Jamie Donaldson, Fire Dept. recycling our donations for their yard sale; and Dr. and Mrs. Krem- powich for the unique nostalgic hats which the museum will be lending to the Choral Society. The Handlebar Moustache and Beard Growing Contest, in- itiated by Roy Walker-Smith, was officially begun with the ex- pert straight-razor shaving pro- vided by Angelo, owner of Port Perry Hair Centre. The follow- ing good-sported gentlemen have bared their faces for mu- seum pledges: Murray Jacklin, CIBC; Norm Sheppard, Rent & Save; Dennis Romeril, IGA; Ken Gadsden, Township of Scugog; Don Gib- son, Valu-Mart; Roy Grierson, Historical Society; Bill Hen- shall, Henshall's Fashions; Murray Hoskin, Absent-Eze; Case Lami, W. Frank Real Es- tate; Harold "Butch" Latta, En- thusiastic Community Mem- ber; Roy Walker-Smith, Scugog Shores Museum Village. A special thank you goes to Doug Olliffe, and Emiel Kroo- nenberg, for providing the hair- razing entertainment with Mayor Howard Hall doing the shaving honors. The cutting re- marks have been edited! The museum 1s waiting for a rep from Scugog Lumber, Mr. Sub, Cashway Lumber, Canadian Tire, Dollar Plus, Trader Sams, Paulmac, Port Perry Star and an officer from the Whitby OPP, all of whom were unable to at- tend the registration. It's not too late to getin on the fun! Once again, a very sincere thank you to the Port Perry Community for your enthusias- tic support and interest in our museum. The feature item of the day was a carved wooden duck donated by local artist Tony Krieg.
