Regional Councillors voted in favor last week of Oshawa May- or Nancy Diamond's resolution that they support Skycraft Air Transport Inc. in its application forloan guarantees. The compa- ny is in the process of applying for loans from the Ontario De- velopment Corporation. Mayor Diamond pointed out that the current recession has taken its toll on the Canadian airline industry, and Oshawa Airport has "seen a substantial drop in passenger traffic." She said 16 communities have lost service and 21 airlines have ceased operations. Other com- munities have seen decreased service. Mayor Diamond noted that Oshawa has been spared large- ly due to the commitment of the airlines. "Oshawa Airport, serving Durham Region, is now unique in the level of services still avail- able," she said. Mayor Diamond pointed to the fact that the airline is "es- sential to the regional infra- structure" and "critical to eco- nomic development, renewal and future prosperity in our area." She noted that many indus- tries depend on the airlines for not only commuter service, but also for the shipment of needed parts for manufacturing. Emergency medical services also depend on the airport. "We are indeed very fortunate to have this company in Dur- ham Region," she said. package, only - must drive beauty! seals, auto, 3.1 litre engine, only Check Out These Early Blooming Specials 1991 CHEV LUMINA Z34 Low km., loaded, black with grey interior, this one won't last long at ce S17 ,995 1990 CHEV CAVALIER CL 3.1 litre engine, 4 door, 52,000 km, air, cassette...the smart upgrade 1989 FORD MERCURY MARQUIS LS mint, loaded, luxury wheels for the discriminating taste, a real must see TR, S12, 995 1990 PONTIAC TEMPEST 3.1 litre engine, AM/FM cassette, 4 door, air, 41,000 km, red, auto 1990 CHEV CAVALIER Z24 67.000 km, red with sunroof, fully loaded, buckets & fold down rear 1988 CHEV CHEYENNE PICK-UP TRUCK Sierra 1500 Series, auto, V6, box liner, 89,000 km, white, priced to sell at oven S6,995 1988 OLDS CUTLASS SIERRA 90.000 km, loaded, 4 door, rosewood, very comfortable car ceeo-a S7.995 1978 BUICK RIVIERA Consignment Special, 405 engine, 106,000 km, loaded, southern owned & driven until 1'/ years ago, great, straight car.
