Since its inception in 1989, the Scugog Toy Lending Library has seen an increase in the number of families using the fa- cility. "There has been an increased interest in the library," Dayle Forderer, co-director of the toy lending library, told the Port Perry Star. The library had a total mem- bership of 43 families using the facility during the past year. The library is also open to non- members who wish to bring their children to play with the toys, but no borrowing privileg- es are allowed. Mrs. Forderer said the execu- tive committee has agreed to keep the number of member- ships restricted to no more than 40 families. "We feel because of (the size of) our facilities, we should limit our memberships at 40," she said. Thirty-four families have al- ready signed up for the 1992-93 season which begins in the fall. Mrs. Forderer expects the li- brary will have another waiting list of families wishing to be- come members. As well as being an excellent service for the children, Mrs. Forderer said the library is "a great social outlet for alot of the moms. It's a great place to get out with the kids." She said family memberships are $25 a year. "It's not a financial burden for the families," she added. Mrs. Forderer commended Pat Bird, Martha Larson, and Marilyn Pearce for starting the library. "There is a definite need for it." The Scugog Toy Lending Li- brary is funded solely through memberships and its fundrais- ing efforts. The operating costs are kept to a minimum thanks to the generosity of the Port Perry United Church which do- nates space in its basement for the library. "We wouldn't be able to oper- ate without the church's help," Mrs. Forderer said, adding the SALE these items only - prices in effect until June 5, 1992 SEE OUR STORE FOR MORE GREAT SPECIALS! 225 cm.
