Oshawa ran into a tough de- fence, starting right off in the first inning. The Angels got things rolling on back to back singles from Tracy Smith and Lisa Best, both of these lead off hitters proceeded to steal bases, before Joyce Parkinson on a ground out, batted in Tracy Smith with the leading run. Jackie Dempster then drove in Lisa Best to take an early 2-0 lead. S & H Fabs in the second came away empty handed again, but the Angels came up with two more runs. After two outs were recorded; Janie Thornton lashed out a double, then scored on Tracy Smith's single, who then proceeded to steal second and get in scoring position. Lisa Best got onwith an infield single, then Joyce Parkinson singled home Smith with the Angles fourth run, to up their lead to 4-0. Neither team could score in the third inning. Oshawa got nothing in the fifth. But then Kim Stewart lashed out a single then a sacrifice over to second, Tracy Smith moved her over to third on her third hit of the night, bringing home Stewart. Wodzak then hit a sky high fly to the left fielder, which scored the lone Oshawa run. They got nothing in the sixth or seventh innings, but the Angels got things rolling again. Jacqueline Mikuse singled and scored on Brenda Elford's triple, who in turn scored on an error off the bat of Ann Gordon by the shortstop Chifero. The final score was 8-1 in An- gels favor. The Angels next game is in Oshawa at Durham Fields, dia- mond #2 at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26. Next weekend we have a double hitter for you, "the bat- tle of the Angels", Cobourg An- gels to be matched up with Scu- gog Angels. Want to enjoy a night out, the place to be is the lakefront dia- mond for lots of action. Town of Angels This coming weekend could be the most interesting week- end in Port Perry for softball. If you have ever seen the mo- vie "City of Angels" then you are in for a real treat. The Scugog "Angels" have just this for you on May 31 at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Not just one, but two games for you. On Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Team Canada from Picker- ing Ontario (who are the Cana- dian Senior Ladies Fastball Champions) are coming in to play our very own Scugog "An- gels" of the Durham Ladies Fastball League. This Pickering ladies fastball team are going to represent Canada at the world fastball championships in China some- time in late June, 1992. The coach of this Pickering team just happens to live in Port Perry, Ontario. The Scu- gog Angels are going to do their utmost, and give them a go, just to find out how far we have come when putting this team to- gether. Also to see just how good they are. In the evening you will see a Squirt fastball team keeps on winning On May 20, Port Perry's all star fastball squirt team were on the road against Pickeringin another York-Durham league game. This was a game that nei- ther team seemed intent on winning and numerous errors on both sides were the order of the day. Pickering jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings to capi- talize on the poor play of the Le- gionaires. Port Perry rebound- ed thankfully with seven runs in the final inning to steal a 13- 12 victory and keep their unde- feated streak alive. Casey VanSchagen came on to pitch in relief of Chris Jones at the start of the fourth inning and got credit for the win. Be- tween them they allowed nine hits, gave up six walks and had six strikouts. Offensively, Jeff Ashton con- tinued his early season batting success with another triple. Ca- sey went two for two and singles were contributed by Ryan Moynes, Ryan McQuade, Chris Jones, and Jon Froats. Brad Monsma reached first in every at-bat with a hit and two walks while Michael Versage also showed a selective batting eye in drawing two walks also. Some tough practice drills next week will undoubtedly sharpen up the Legionaires field play and reduce their men- tal physical errors for their next game. The next home game will be May 28 against Aurora at 6:30 p.m. on the Water St., south di- amond. Coming through for Seagrave was Jason batting in the first run with Kim and Michael scoring in the third. : Cottrell's came through with Jesse Mischtian, Krystal Archi- bald and Christopher Furlotte who put on a good show and the team came up with a win of 15- 10. Thanks to all parents who helped with the game. All the kids played a great game.
