30 - PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, May 26, 1992 "Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice" Ray Rankin, Perfect Brownies to visit Sundance Meadows Heating battle By Frank Trainor Greenbank diamond was the scene as Ray Rankin Carpentry won a narrow come-from- behind victory over Perfect Heating in Pee Wee/Squirt Boys Softball this past Tues- day, May 19 in an exciting match-up. Ray Rankin now goes to 2 and 0 on the season so far with their 9-8 squeaker over the Perfect Heating squad. Per- fect Heating lead most of the way until the later stages with major contributions coming from Clayton Brown and Graeme Powell who both pitched strong efforts in tan- dem. Paul Chang, Kurt Saari and Andrew Donnelly all went 2 for 2 at the plate as Perfect Heat- ing displayed all round excel- lent hitting. The big win came for the Ran- kin team with two out in the bottom of the final inning as Cory Raines, who was 2 for 2 on the day, stole home from third on a wild pitch to cap a never- say-die effort on the base paths. Taylor Kirk also sparked his team's play overall and mighty Matthew Blake simply outdid himself with his terrific batting and fantastic fielding. Overall a good game result- ing in a dramatic finish and a credit to both these teams.
