Sunday School anniversary Gre nbank News With a full house, some from all the South Ontario branches, Sunderland, Bethesda and local friends, the Greenbank Wom- en's Institute celebrated their 30th anniversary with the Gold- en Slippers entertaining. Many readings including Celebrating our 125 birthday for Canada written by Arvella Phoenix, a former member, the progress of living, and a man's impression of the Women's Institute, and songs composed by two local girls. During the afternoon the charter members wore orchid corsages and a beautiful W.I. wooden plate was presented to Margaret Couperthwaite on completion of her four years in the chair. Thanks to all who helped make this such a wonderful day toremember. The Sunday School Anniver- sary will be held next Sunday, June 7. Lunch will be served af- ter the service, so please bring your sandwiches and cookies. The Fidelus Unit of the U.C.W. will be held Wednesday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the church basement with a special speaker. Come and bring a friend. Elden Evans and Anita moved out of the Powell house to their new home on Concession Eight on Satur- day. On Sunday Nelson Scott, son of Betty Scott (Powell) of To- ronto moved into the Powell home. The Bruce Houghlands are building a lovely new home on Concession Six. Neil and Lisa Risebrough and family have also moved, to the Uxbridge area. John and Rox- anne Murison moved into the house on Palace St. So we say Epsom is alive and on the move. On Sunday, May 31, Ross and Barb Evans and Jean Pogue at- tended a birthday party for Mary Ingleton of Markham. Several Reach W.I. ladies and husbands attended the Ontario North District Women's Insti- tute Church Service held in the Old Stone Church at Beaverton. Mrs. Marjorie Vinden told of her African experiences. The of- fering was used to support our "Associated Country Women of the World", to alleviate world poverty. A tree was planted in the church yard by the W.I. We are pleased to see the Cracknell's have opened their cottage once more. About 40 friends and rela- tives of Mrs. Chondra Maharaj gathered at her home on Sun- day for a social time. Congratulations to Sandra Kerry, daughter of Arnold and Gail Kerry who graduated last week from Sir Wilfred Laurier University in Kitchener- Waterloo with an honors Busi- ness Diploma. A large group of friends and relatives enjoyed an afternoon tea at Utica Hall on Saturday to help Cora (Christie) Gunyou celebrate her 80th Birthday. Best wishes from all of us. June 5, the Sunday School is hosting a "Plant Party" at Ep- som Church 5:30-7:30. Please bring a flowering plant you can spare. Bring a friend and stay for hot dogs. Then have a craft to take home. This invitation is open to all children. June 14 is Sunday School Graduation Service so the chil- dren will lead the church ser- vice after which we will enjoy the Congregational Picnic. On Saturday evening a lovely shower was given for Brenda Monroe and Allan Bailey; when many friends gathered at Ep- som Church. Gail Kerry com- posed a wonderful poem which she read to the couple. Then Jean and Bruce Houghland pre- sented the many gifts to the happy couple, who were espe- cially surprised by the gift of a barbeque and two lawn chairs, presented to them as a gift from many friends.
