Raglan defeats IGA 6-0 A lot of enthusiastic kids were out in force for the opening squirt soccer games on Wednes- day, June 3. Stacey Cunningham was amasing for Darlene Colton Photography, with four goals to her credit. Also scoring for the team were James Colton, Nich- olas Byers and Justin Shinn. Nobody ran harder than Julie- Ann Domik, and she was re- warded for her efforts with an assist on James' goal. The Lions Club wasn't able to match the scoring, but they did manage to knock in two. Andrea Tindall and Richard Brazier put in an outstanding effort. Raglan Welding dominated Port Perry IGA and got their first shutout, winning 6-0. Wes Langmaid led the scoring with two goals and an assist. One goal was scored by each of Leah Zochodne, Greg Jeffery, Erik Hertzberg and Kevin Robins. Hilary Gibson also put in a good performance for this well- rounded team. Despite the loss, IGA had alot of fun and the coaching staff was pleased with the effort. Rebecca Cruick- shank and Erin Greary were tough on defence, and Shawn Demaio narrowly missed spoil- ing the shutout. Port Perry Auto Glass was successful against Flieler's Pe- tro Can, 4-1. Auto Glass put forth an excellent team effort, with Kevin Lukas and Spencer Churchill each scoring one goal, and Matthew Kamminga get- ting two. Laura Batterink and Lori Powell played strong de- fensive games, keeping the Flieler team in check. Never- theless, Liam McKeracher did manage to come through with one goal for Flieler's, with the whole team performing well considering it was their first outing together. Brian's Towing just edged out Haugen's Chick- en Barbeque by a score of 2-3. Trevor Lance kicked in all three for Brian's Towing, for his first hat trick of the season. Good goaltending came from Adam Landry and Billy Britt. Jessie Thomson helped out with some strong kicks from his position on defence, and Christine Nagy carried the ball well. The goal scorers for Haugen's were Da- vid Miller and Meghan Smith. Matthew Sutherland showed great ball control, and Lindsay Carr and Peter Konstantino- poulos played a strong two way game. Rent & Save/Cinemax also had an exciting match-up with Trader Sams, and took that game 6-4. They look to have several good goal scorers, with Jennifer Cook and Trevor Chandler each getting one, and Timothy Motuzas and Justin Moffat getting two apiece. Trader Sams put forth an awe- some effort for their first game of the season and the coaching staff was thrilled with their ability to play together even with some of the players being new to the sport. Clayton Gil- more knocked in two of their goals, with the others being scored by Katie Bierness and Samantha Chuisolo.
