Liz Harvey of Totnes, England, spent the first week of a five-month stay in Canada, with the Green family. Liz is a Young Farmer which is the equivalent of Canada's Junior Farm- er program. While staying with the Greens, Liz toured the Dar- lington Nuclear Power Plant, Cullen Gardens, Windfields Farm, the Eaton's Centre, the CN Tower, and Lishmans. Liz comment- ed on the mosquitos in Canada, adding that England doesn't have very many bugs. While in the area, Liz also stayed with Cindy and Hubert Schillings. Sunday School anniversary Lovely Things If you lack for aught to do, pause awhile and enjoy the view - there's distant hills you haven't seen, and lovely mead- ows fresh and green; there's music sweet you haven't heard, from singing winds and wood- land birds; there's perfume on each passing breeze, from clo- ver bloom and orchard trees; there's miles to go and friends to make, and new joy to bring to hearts that ache; all this and more you'll find is true; life's full of lovely things to do. Unknown Wedding of Interest On Saturday, June 6, a lovely wedding was solemnized when Kenneth Weir of Nestleton and Barbara Holmes of Oshawa, were united in Holy Matrimony at the Salvation Army Temple, Oshawa, Captain James Latour officiating at the impressive ceremony. Following the recep- tion..held at the tem- ple...guests enjoyed musical numbers performed by family and friends. Richard MacKen- zie provided a few humorous stories about the bride and groom in their growing up years...and Chuck Hill present- ed a light-hearted look at the groom. The happy couple are spend- ing their honeymoon in Florida, and upon their return will take up residence in Oshawa. Very best wishes to Ken and Barb from the Nestleton folks for a happy life together! Nestleton Afternoon Unit Meets The Nestleton afternoon unit met at the attractive summer home of Bernice Mairs, June 9, at the Fleetwood Trailer Park, Janetville, with nine members present. Leader Mabel Cawker extended a warm welcome and ave a thought re - Father's Day. She was assisted by secre- tary Barb Weir. The inspiring devotional was presented by Gwen Malcolm and June Stevenson, opening with hymn "The Lord Is My Shepherd" with Gwen at the keyboard, and scripture 23rd Psalm, was read by June. Medi- tation was taken by Gwen and June. Hymn "Come Let Us Sing" was sung followed by Prayer. An entertaining pro- gram was carried out with hu- morous readings - the parts tak- en by several members entitled "The Tater Family" and June read "The No See Sunday" re - those who have excuses for not attending church. All very hi- larious and enjoyable! Turnto Page 31 |
