Scugog Angels win and lose in league action The Scugog Angels were handed a setback by the Oshawa Fabs, 10-6. The Fabs put together five runs on a walk and four hits, to take an early lead in the second inning before the ladies got on the scoresheet in the third. Jackie Dempster got on by an error and later scored on Par- kinson's fielder's choice. It wasn't till the fifth that the An- gels, could do anything of sorts, but they finally got going, when - they put together five runs on four hits a fielder's choice, plus two Oshawa errors to get on the scoreboard. Gena Spence was the hitter, with a triple, two singles, Mi- chelle Reader with two hits, along with Jackie Dempster, Nancy McConnell, Lorie Win- ters and Janie Thorton with sin- gles, and taking the loss. This all came after Oshawa put across four more runs in the fourth. Sunday Night Action Janie Thorton pitched a six hitter in leading the Angels to a win over the Oshawa Mackies 4-2. This same team defeated our ladies early on in a real closeone. 3 Back to back triples by Tracy Smith and Lisa Best scored one run, then Michelle Reader drove home the other with a sin- gle. Oshawa led off the first in- ning with a run, but our ladies came right back with two runs, to take the lead and never look back. Then added another run in the second, a single by Nancy McConnell who had herself a big night scoring three runs, on two for two at the plate, stole a base. They added one more in the third, and one in the sixth, before Oshawa Machines were able to score in the seventh on a -single, two walks a hit batter scored their other run. Lisa Best with two triples, on RBI, along with singles by Gena Spence, Michelle Reader, Lorie Winters, Jackie Dempster and Kim Stewart, Kim also had two RBIs. Next Sunday night, will be the big test, as the Oshawa Mavericks move into town, and this is the game the girls want most to win. 8 p.m. game time, on Sunday night, hope to see you there. Pee Wees win convincingly The Port Perry MoJack Pee Wee rep team played a home and home series with Richmond Hill on June 16 and 17 winning both games convincingly. The first game was played in Port and Richmond Hill started the game off by getting four runs in their halfof the first inning. The MoJacks showed that all their practices of late were worthwhile as they exploded for 11 runs of their own to close out the first inning with an 11-4 lead. Tim Fitzpatrick was on the mound for the MoJacks and had some control problems as he walked eight and hit two bat- ters. With the walks and a few base hits along the way Rich- mond Hill scored eight more runs but the MoJacks also scored eight more to finish the game off with a 19-12 win. Do- ing the hitting for the MoJacks were Doug Short with three sin- gles, Ryan Williamson with a single and triple, Darryl Moase with a single and double, Jason Logan a home run, Brad Morton a triple, singles by Marc Ver- sage and Tim Fitzpatrick and a grand slam home run by Jeff Clarke. The following night the Mo- Jacks travelled to Richmond Hill and continued their hitting ways as they again scored 19 runs while only giving up six to Richmond Hill. Matt Kay was on the mound for the MoJacks and went the distance for the win while striking out seven along the way. Having a big night for the Mo- Jacks were Ryan Williamson with a triple, double and three singles and Jeff Clarke with four singles. Also hitting for the ModJacks were Jason Logan with a triple, double and single, Jason Best, Brad Morton, Owen St. John and Doug Short two singles each and Marc Versage and Matt Kay with a single each. The Modacks next home game will be Tuesday, June 30 at 6:30 p.m. against Scarbo- rough.
