The Lioness tied the game with their last batter. Shawn McNa- mara hit a home run to center field and ran out the tag. Haley Campbell played a strong offen- sive game with a double and three runs scored. Taylor Churchill headed Lishman's attack with a home run in the second inning. Chris- tin DeJong chipped in with three hits as well as scoring two runs. Tyke Division June 23 Hutton Heating -4 Mike Baker Automotive - 5 An excellent effort was put forth by both teams. Good pitch- ing for Hutton Heating was Ryan Kyndry. Justin Seibler made an excellent triple play for Hutton Heating also. Johnathon Watton pitched an outstanding game for Mike Baker Automotive. Mite Division June 24 London Life Lazers - 17 J.C. Flooring - 22 A well played game by both teams. Jared Roberts hit a home run for London Life which was excellent. Jordon Cully Jays - 15 Port Perry IGA - 8 Great pitching by Kyle McClurg for Jordan Cully. Tyl- er Lucas had a two RBI double; Niranda Burgess hit a triple; and Nicolas Malcolm had great hitting with an RBI home run and an RBI triple. For Port Perry IGA, Jeremy J. Bitthed great. Good fielding by Holly Westall. Tim and Mike both made good plays on first base. Squirt Division June 28 Don Frew & Sons - 29 Speedy Muffler- 19 Both teams played excellent. For the winning team, Don Frew, Billy Buston had a great catch; Josh Martyn hit a home run, and Colin Manns had three doubles. Super Mods return Bud Triple Crown 100 at Mosport Speedway The heart pounding action of Supermodified racing returns to Mosport International Speedway, July 11-12, for an- other exhilarating afternoon of non-stop excitement. This.is the second leg of the Speedway's three-race track championship for the Super- modifieds and fans who were at Round 1 on June 12 are still talking about the spectacular show that these 900 h.p. metha- nol-burning machines put on. Gary Morton, for one, certain- ly won't forget it. The racer from Stouffville, Ontario touched wheels while racing with a rival and wound up flying 15 feet into the air before being caught by the track's debris fencing. ~ Gary fortunately wasn't in- Jured but, "it was one of the most spectacular incidents that ['ve ever seen," Hudes said. "It was wild." Gary was making a pass when he suddenly touched wheels. The fencing threw him back on to the track. Most of the fans will never forget what they saw. The Supermodifieds, which regularly run at Oswego, N.Y, raced at the Speedway for the first time last summer. Fan re- action was so overwhelming that Hudes not only invited them back this season but also created their own three-race points championship. "Morton petially wan our in- augural Supermodified race last summer - Hudes said, "His car has been rebuilt and he's ready to go forit again." Morton will be among the more than 24 racers taking di- rect aim at first round winner Doug Didero in this 50 lap fea- ture, one of three events set for Sunday, July 12. In addition to the Speedway's Sportsman action, the second leg of the Budweiser Triple Crown will also be run on Sun- day afternoon prior to the Su- permodified thunder. Veteran Canadian stock car driver Junior Hanley of Camp- bellville, Ontario enters the fray as the man to beat having ~ taken the first round of the $50,000 Triple Crown at Dela- J ware Speedway Park on May 17. A victory at Mosport will give Hanley a lock on a second con- secutive Triple Crown title in addition to adding some valu- able points in his quest for a sec- ond consecutive American- Canadian Tour (ACT) champi- /onship and a second straight General Motors National Stock Car series title. "Hanley undoubtedly re- mains the driver to beat but lo- cal favorite Randy MacDonald of Oshawa may have something to say about the outcome before thedayisover," Hudge said. 'Randy would like nothing better than to beat his arch ri- val in front of his home track fans." In addition to Hanley and MacDonald, other top Canadi- ans entered include Bill Zardo Sr.of Brampton, Claude Leclerc of Montreal and Derek Lynch of Norwood, Ontario. MacDonald won Round 2 of the GM series at Cayuga Speed- way on June 7 but Manley re- bounded to take Round 3 at Mosporton June 14. The Mosport event is the fourth round of the GM Nation- al Stock Car championship and - the 11th round of the overall American-Canadian Tour (ACT). Action gets underway at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday with the Speedway"s regular stock car rogram as well as qualifying or the ACT and practice runs for several local Supermodified runners who won't be compet- ne that evening at Oswego, Sunday's program gets un- derway at 9:30 a.m. Admission Saturday is $15 for adults and $2 for children. Admission Sun- day is $25 for adults and $4 for children. The special weekend combo ticket is $30 for adults. Parking is free both days. Outstanding player for Speedy was Candace Boccaccio. She hit a home run, two singles, and a triple. Chad Muirhead also played very well with a home run and a triple. Out- standing pitching by Pam Go- ble who had five walks in a row. Technique Drywall - 24 MKM Eggbeaters - 24 A great effort was played by all. Senior Division June 22 Blackstock Hardware - 18 Blackstock Lions - 12 Blackstock Hardware played an excellent game. Blaine Pel- rine hit two triples, Kingsley Malcolm and Derek Malcolm hit home runs. Good catches were made by Marshal McQuade, Kingsley Malcolm, Scott Malcolm, Matt Bradburn and Ryan Peter who had three. The Blackstock Lions also played a great game. Doubles [2 ~ were hit by Jeremy Malcolm and Eric Russel. Scott Nesbitt hit a triple. Great catches were made by Shane Escott and Ryan Larmer who had two. Marks Maintenance -13 Cummings Backhoe - 9 Marks Maintenance. played an outstanding game. Great pitching by Peter Bostleman and Jonathon McCourt. Peter Bostleman also hit a grand slam home run. Melissa Don- nelly, Jeff Balser, Lloyd Shad- dock, and Jim Chapman had two runs scored. Great pitching for Cummings Backhoe was Scott Goble. Great catches were made by Ben Humphry and A.G. Kley. Tyke Division June 29 Lishman's-21 H& M Wright Sox - 24 The Lishman's team played a very good game. special efforts were made by Jennifer Morri- son, Kristy Popowich, Jason Dillon, Taylor Churchill and the rest of the team. H & M started the game with Blake McLaughlin bringing in three runs on a triple. Jesse Mullins hit a double and a home run. Mitch Truax hit a home run in the fourth. The whole team pulled together and came up with an outstanding victory. July1 Blackstock Lioness - 19 H&M Wright Sox - 21 A great game was played by all team members. H & M had outstanding hitting from Ma- belle Truax who hit two home runs. Jesse Mullins also hit a home run. For the Lioness, Ricky Geer had excellent hitting and strong running. Michael Parr had excellent hitting and field- ing. Tyke Division June 30 Baker Auto: 10tive - 8 Asselstine £ uzuki - 4 July1 Hutton Heating 5 Asselstine Suzuki - 3 Mite Division Julyl Port Perry IGA - 10 J.C. Flooring - 28 There was an excellent effort ut forth by both teams. For ort Perry IGA Mike hit a triple; Daryl hit a home run; Steven had an out at home: and David caught a line drive. J.C. Flooring played out- standing. Joey €hombrae hit a home run; Ryan Woods had a force out, Brian Wonnacott hit a double; Luke had a good catch; Ashleigh had a force out; Carla hit a home run and Daryl Dean hit three home runs and a triple. : Jordan Cully Jays- 18 London Life Lazers- 15 An excellent game was defi- nitely played by both great teams. For the Jays the out- standing player was Kyle McClurg who hit three home runs and had a great catch. Danny Deeth had good pitching and a good catch. Joey Knigh- ton hit a double; Miranda Bur- gess hit a double; Mike McNeal hit a double; Susie Gerrow and Joey both hit home runs. Chris Pottery had a great play on first and also hit a home run. London Life had excellent pitching throughout the whole game. A great catch and great pitching was made by Mike Sonne. Amanda Drew had a great catch. Great plays were made by Matthew Welts and Joey Derynck. Joey also hit a double and had a good catch. Squirt Division June 30 MKM Eggbeaters - 23 Speedy Muffler - 21 For MKM Jamie Budge hit a homer in the fourth. The team effort produced seven doubles and two triples. Extra effort was made by Travis Hazelton who caught the game winning fly ball. For Speedy the team pro- duced six doubles and three triples. Everyone had fun. ~ Technique Drywall Don Frew & Sons No Results. Senior Division June 29 Blackstock Lions - 8 Marks Maintenance -12 Blackstock Hardware - 8 Cummings Backhoe - 18 Both teams played excellent. Contributors for Hardware were Leanne Goslin and Mar- shall McQuade who both hit doubles. Great catches 'were made by Josh Malcolm, King- sley Malcolm, and Derek Mal- colm. For Cummin Backhoe, Dustin Marnoch, A.G. Riel, Wil- liam Michel, Scott Goble, and Alan Richmond also hit home runs. Pizza Delight wins There was plenty of action on Monday, June 29 at R.H. Cor- nish as Pizza Delight and Van Camp Contracting faced off for the second time this season. With both teams having full squads, it was an evenly matched hard fought game. Van Camp started off with their bats swinging and tried to dig a big hole for Pizza Delight and after three innings, it was Van Camp ahead 10-7. But much to the delight of the Piz- zas, they started hitting in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring six runs and shutting down the Van Camp machine for a close 13-10 win. It was Nathaniel Knopp, two hits, ohe run; Chelsea Wilson, one hit, one run; and Stephen Groves, three hits, one run. Cooking things up for the Pizza crew while Brennan Ballagh, one double, one run and a great catch; Jessica Goreski, two hits, one run; and NicolegGoreski, one hit, one run, helped in the Van Camp attack. All the players played a great game and deserve a big cheer! Next game, July 6 at 6:30 9-10 Mites Brian's Towing vs Seagrave Wednesday, July 1 Greg Manns knocked the only run in as Seagrave won 10-1. Tyler Houthuys made a good double play ending the game. Mini soccer report On June 30 in mini soccer, Technique Drywall suffered their first loss of the season to Scugog Lumber 4-0. Matthew Charron kicked in two goals, with Kelly Lucas and Kyle Bow- ers getting singles, assisted by Matthew Hertzberg. Mark For- derer and Kyle Bowers shared the shutout. Despite the loss Adam Bull played a strong de- fensive game for Technique Drywall, and Katelyn ay made many more stops in net than she let by. : Framer's Gallery and Man- vers 2 played an exciting match, which ended in a 0-0 draw. Both teams had close calls, but Kylie Goodwin for Framer's stopped ~all comers in net. Melissa Nagy played an effective offensive game and Derek Goreski kept the pressure on Manvers with many shots on goal. For Man- vers, Jeffrey Semchism and Gary Brown were tough on de- fense, and Dylan Charland nar- rowly missed scoring. Kenny Britt and Melissa Nagy shared the goaltending duties, and the shutout. Manvers 1 prevailed against- Fowler Davies 3-1. Joel Ward was unstoppable, scoring all three of Manvers goals. Darryl McGraff played in net and As ley Gilbank provided solid de- fense. Celine Batterink got Fowler Davies lone marker, and both Andrew Hale and Daniel Shore put in a fine defensive ef- fort. On Canada Day, Re/Max Re- alty bested Nuts About Choco- late 2-0. Daniel Bois scored both goals with great offensive back- up from Christina Reader. John Tanti narrowly missed widen- ing the gap with several close calls. For Nuts, Brian Howarth played with gusto and Brent Meeking put in some good de- fense. Subby's Submarine shut out F.A. Slinger Transport, 4-0. Danny Halward had a huge game, posting a hat trick, and Tyler Cunningham evened the scoring with one. Brittany Zo- chodne played a great defensive game. The Slinger coachin staff can't fault their teams' of fort, noting improvement at each outing. Good technical play by Wesley Cook led to a bet- ter game this time. Both Emily Davis and Andrew Adams proved to be real troopers, get- ting back into the game after in- juries. Kelly Gruber should take note! Don't forget about the mini soccer Festival Days tourna- ment to be held at the old lawn bowling green on Saturday. It's a great opportunity for specta- tors to see just how entertaining mini soccer can be.
