The 4-H Club, On a Wild Side concluded their projects with a sleep-out and much fun at the backyard of Heather Goulding on Friday evening and a rainy Saturday morning. One of the members Brooke McLaughlin wrote the following poem about this event. Our 4-H Club went walking along a bumpy road, we were go- ing to Heather Gouldings or at least that's what we were told. Our knapsacks were a sag- ging, our knees were bent with pain, to be doing this you'd think we must be insane. Through the swamp we wad- ed, through the trees we went wade through swamps tripping, over logs stepping, on frogs stepping, how far is this beyond this gooey bog? Finally we are here, time to pitch the tent, hurry now get the fire going, perhaps it will get rid of this marshy scent. We ate all our hot dogs, we re- ceived our awards and snacked on the g'mores, this is enough for me, I can'teat any more. "Everyone in your tents," it's time to go to sleep, keep your socks on, everybody can smell your stinky feet. Wake up everybody. It's 6 a.m. Hurry to the toilet (hole) before it's filled to the top. Everybody pack up your geer, it's time tc head on home. Some- body call a bus, that would be a lot less fuss! Well done, Brooke. The annual VanCamp Picnic was held on Sunday at the Rec- reation Centre due to the in- clement weather which pre- vented going to Caesarea Park.
