Winning second place in the consolation round were Mary Foote of Port Hoover and Elizabeth Pillman of Oshawa. Irene Ledger of Bailieboro and Bruce Mitch- ell of Brooklin captured first place in the consolation final. Shuffleboard Club holds Draw Doubles Tournament The Scugog Shuffleboard Club held its final tournament of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 4 atthe Scugog Arena. The tournament was a draw doubles event sponsored by Scugog Shuffleboard Club president Hugh Ormiston Irene and Rolly Ledger of Bailie- boro. Main event winners were Doris Nottingham of Caesarea and Chris Stutzmann of Scarbo- rough. .Second place went to Hank Dewit of Oshawa and presents the main event trophies to Doris Nottingham of Cae- sarea and Chris Stutzmann of Scarborough. by RO Hank Dewit of Oshawa (left) and Frank Willson of Balsam Lake (right) placed second in the main event. Tournament sponsor Rolly Ledger of Bailleboro presents the trophies to the gentlemen. Frank Willson of Balsam Lake. George Skerratt of Port Perry and Rolly Ledger of Bailieboro picked up third place. Fourth was awarded to Grace Love of Port Perry and Roy Nottingham of Port Perry. Consolation winners were Irene Ledger of Bailieboro and Bruce Mitchell of Brooklin. Sec- ond place was captured by Mary Foote of Port Hoover and Eliza- beth Pillman of Oshawa. Jack Lee of Brooklin and Larry Spires of Hamilton picked up third place. Fourth was award- ed to Chas. Foote of Little Brit- ain and Alma Cox of Port Perry. Today (Tuesday) is the last day of regular season play at the Scugog Shuffleboard Club. Al- though the club only started up a little more than a month ago, it has already attracted 109 members. Club president Hugh Ormis- ton said shuffleboard play will resume in May, The 1993 sea- son will be four months. The Scugog Shuffleboard Club annual meeting has been scheduled for May 5, 1993 at 7:30 p.m. in the Township of Scugog Council Chambers. In Squirt soccer last week the only two undefeated teams met for a showdown. The Port Perry Auto Glass "Stingrays" met up with Rent & Save/Cinemax, and it was the Stingrays who triumphed, 8-2. Matthew Kamminga contin- ued to dominate the offense with four goals, and Spencer Churchill had two. Special con- gratulations go to Laura Batte- rink and Tony Boomsma who each earned their first goal of the season! Jennifer Vander- Meulen and Lori Powell also played well in their forward po- sitions. Zach Pither provided ef- fective defense and Thomas Lee was excellent in net. Justin Moffat of the Cinemax team was held to only one goal this game, and Timothy Motu- zas scored as well. Stephanie and Melissa Mulder were strong on defense. Evan Powell and Trevor Chandler were kept busy in net and made many more stops than they let in; and Adam Peacock, Josh Sobil and Brady Gray kept the pressure on with good play. The game between Raglan Welding and Port Perry I.G.A. was moving with energy from both sides. The I.G.A. team put in a vigorous effort against the very powerful Raglan Welding team, who were successful by a 5-0 score. Excellent effort by Leah Zochodne, Jordan Beelby, Erik Hertzberg, Hilary Gibson, Teddy Howarth and Kevin Rob- bins led to the win, as these five players played the entire game with no subs! I.G.A.'s coaching staff continues to see improve- ment in their teams ability to play their positions and make some nice passing plays, result- ing in some near goals. Steven Williams and Erin Ed- wards played well in both offen- sive and defensive roles, and Christopher Wood made many fine stops as goalie in the second half. Darlene Colton Photography had a fantastic game against i Undefeated teams finally meet in Squirt soccer action the Lions Club, winning 5-1. Justin Shinn scored a hat trick, Stacey Cunningham and Nicho- las Byers each notched two, and James Colton rounded out the scoring with one goal, despite playing much of the game in net. Timothy Donohue and Marta VanCamp made several key passes. and both Rebecca Aked and Julie-Ann Domik had many good chances. Andrea Tindall got the lone marker for the Lions Club. Haugen's Chicken Barbecue played a very strong game against Manvers 1, with goals being scored by Matthew Su- therland, Lindsay Carr and Pe- ter Konstantinopolous. Alex McKay made lots of stops in net and the rest of the team played splendidly. Stephen Stiner got Manvers only goal. Trader Sams showed contin- ued improvement in their abili- ty in last week's game by defeat- ing Flieler's Petro Can 6-0. Katie Bierness had two goals, Sam Chiusolo had one, and Clayton Gilmore pulled off a hat trick. Excellent effort by Molly Sprague and great goaltending by Luke Pilkey and Rob Larmer helped to keep Flieler's in check. Great game guys and gals! Manvers 2 just edged out Brian's Towing for a 4-3 victory. At the end of the first half it was 2-1 for Manvers with two goals by Chase Charland, and one by Trevor Lance. Brandon Spear- ing made some good defensive moves and Danielle Hill worked hard to keep it out of Manvers' end. Jessie Worden also putin a strong effort. Trevor Lance tied the game early in the second half, but his goal was answered by one by Ashley Notenboom. Trevor also scored the third goal for Brians, but Chase Charland got the winning goal for Manvers.
