I would like to give you a brief explanation of our Association 30 fhat the next time you see our logo, you will realize its importance and what it stands for. It is the symbol of the Home Building Industry in Canada and at the National level it is known as The Canadian Home Builders' Association, dealing with concerns at the Federal level. Each province also has its own Association dealing with concerns at their evel and here in Ontario there are some thirty-five local associations, of which our association is one, dealing with any problems or concerns that arise and will be affecting our industry in - the Durham Region. The association is the voice of residential construction and represents more than four thousand member companies in Ontario. Our membership is made up of all disciplines involved in residential construction, including builders, land developers, renovators, trade contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, Realtors, mortgage lenders, apartment owners and managers, plumbers, architects, engineers, lawyers and utilities, etc. all working towards building the best possible product and service for you, the customer. . Some of the concerns the Association are constantly dealing with are, the cost of housing, types of housing, cost involved in servicing land, lot levies, more energy efficient housing such a R2000, improving building materials and conservation awareness, just to mention a few. As the industry responsible for building the communities of tomorrow, we are concerned and believe that all Canadians have a right to decent and affordable housing and we are collectively working to this end. All association members are required to abide by our strict code of ethics and are expected to be honest and fair in their dealings with one another and their customers.
