Residents are invited to wit- ness the flag raising event to be heldin Palmer Park. The signature flag which Scu- gog Township children signed during Proud to be Canadian Day festivities April 25, will be flown on the flagpole in the park. The flag will become the prop- erty of the township so it may be used for other special occasions in the future, said Kinsmen Na- tional President Dave Robin- son. The national day has been or- ganized by mayors across the country. It is the brainchild of Bill Nor- rie, Jacquelin Holzman, Shan- nie Duff and Marcel Beaudrey, mayors of Winnipeg, Ottawa, St. John's, New Brunswick and Hull, Quebec respectively. Township A paving company charged with illegal dumping in Scugog Township was found guilty in court on Sept. 14 and has been ordered to remove the debris. Bylaw officer Bill Henshall told the Port Perry Star, Recapp Paving and Construction were charged with illegal dumping earlier this year.
