Provincial Highlights British Columbia and the Prairie provinces will lead the housing recovery this year with construc- tion activity up more than 20 per cent in all four provinces. At the same time, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland will suffer drops of more than 10 per cent. In 1993, Ontario, Nova Scotia and Manitoba will register increases of more than 15 per cent. Other provinces will show small- er increases except for Saskatchewan where a marginal decline is ex- pected. Re-sale Activity and House Price Forecast The re-sale market should show moderate growth over the next 18 months. Sales of existing homes are expected to rise slightly by more than 5 per cent both in 1992 and 1993. The gradual recovery and concentrated activity on the first-time home buyer market should re- sult in only marginal price. increases.
