"Scugog's Community Newspaper of Choice' 'Utica News by Vera Brown This Sunday at 11 a.m. in Ep- som United Church will be the Anniversary Service with for- mer minister Rev. Edith Ann Shantz as guest speaker. Come and enjoy a social time follow- ing the service. Families are asked to bring sandwiches or dessert for lunch. Looking ahead, the U.C.W. York Presbyterial Rally will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, at King city U.C. starting at 9:30 a.m. Our regular U.C.W. meeting for November will be held on the 10th in Epsom Church starting with dessert and re- freshments at 1 p.m. The word for roll call is "Remember." All ladies are welcome. The church board is planning a beef supper for Saturday, Nov. 14 starting at 5 p.m. until all are served. They hope to have some entertainment as well as slides to relive our Cana- da Day celebrations. Adults $10, children 7 - 12 years $5, and children 6 and under will be free. There were 12 tables of eu- chre on Friday night in the hall with the following winners: La- dies first - Ivy Harvy; second - Mabel Hill; third - Ruth Skin- ner. Men's first - Celeste Smal- ley who also had the most lone hands (six); Art Parratt, second; and Bill Butters, third. Freeze- out winners were Phyllis Pegg and Celeste Smalley, Dorothy McCaslin and Ruth Sheridan were second. Draws were won by Harry 'Hill, Joe McCaslin, and Yvonne Gibson. Grant Bright won the 50/50 draw. There will be another euchre in two weeks (Nov. 6). Arnold Kerry enjoyed a week away when he travelled up to Longlac for a week of moose hunting. I understand that the moose decided to take their holi- days at the same time when they heard that the hunters were coming. Maybe next time. Irene Fielding spent the past week as a patient in Port Perry hospital. Better health 1s wished for her and also to Mur- ray Geer who spent a few days in Uxbridge Hospital. Visitors with Lorne and Ei- leen Slute were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Singer of Oshawa on Fri- day evening and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Mitchell of Bowmanville on Saturday evening. Watch out for the ghosts and goblins that will be on the roads on Saturday night, in the ex- citement of the evening they do have a habit of darting across roads without too much thought. They are precious so beware and treat them well. " _-- BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL DIRECTORY -------- -- ---- DURHAM WINDOW DECOR LTD. Verticals © Venetians © Drapes from the FACTORY DIRECT to you.
