By Kelly Lown Port Perry Star Service groups, churches, schools, buinessess and individ- uals are encouraged to register their float for the annual Scugog Chamber of Commerce Santa Claus Parade. Organizers are once again looking for approximately 650 floats for this year's prelude to Christmas. Response for the parade has been great so far, according to this year's parade organizer Alissa Smith. The theme of this year's pa- rade is the traditional Story- book Christmas, but floats can also be tied in with the Business Improvement Area's theme of "A Dickens ofa Christmas." The parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 28 beginning at 2p.m. The route will be the same as in the past, beginning at the Port Perry Fairgrounds and winding its:way down Simcoe Street to Queen Street. The pa- rade should last about two hours. The main attraction, Santa Claus, will make his only ap- pearance on the Chamber float. Children can receive goodie bags from Santa and his helpers at the float following the pa- rade. Organizers are asking groups to register their floats before the week of the parade.
