Port seemed to control most of the play, as the team really hustled on this outing. There were a lot of good passes made by them also. Kevin Hobbs, started the scoring early in the first. Ian Shrigley, who played a very strong game, scored also. Ken- ton LeFort worked hard and got the third goal for Country Style. Assists in this period went to Craig Laird, Jason Logan, Da- ryl Bourgeois, Kevin Hobbs, Ian Shrigley and Jay King. In the second period Port Perry still dominated the game, Ian Shrigley got his second goal of the night assisted by Jay and Kenton. Craig Laird scored as- sisted by Bill Zaparanuik and Tom Chambers. Scot Prechitko played well in net. In the third period, Oshawa | Country Style Bantams defeat Oshawa 12-2 scored two goals, when Port played short-handed. The scor- ing by Oshawa was short lived as Port's Country Style Donuts scored the remaining seven goals. Scoring for Port were Ian Shrigley, two, making a total of four for the game. Kevin Hobbs scored two more also, giving him a well deserved hat trick for this game. Congratulations Ian and Kevin. Craig Laird, Ian McCready and Jeremy Geer added singles. Assists went to Tom Chambers with four, Tim Fitzpatrick with three, and Jer- emy Geer, Craig Laird, Kevin Hobbs, Jay King, Jason Logan and Chris Drury added one as- sist each. All team members worked hard and put forth a good effort in the game and the score board showed it. The fans are confident this scoring will continue as the country Style Donut Bantam As continue in their busy schedule. Legion Pee Wees reach tourney consolation final Neither rain, sleet, hail, or 14 inches of snow could slow down the Legion Pee Wee A team this weekend as they ploughed their way through to the consolation championship in the first tour- nament of the year held in Huntsville. Their first game on Saturday was against Bracebridge and the boys dropped a close one 6-4. Shane Norton opened the scor- ing early on an unassisted goal and that was it until the third period when Daryl McEnaney did the same. Then Shane fed Danny Lyons who netted one and then Colin Laird scored in a wrist shot from the point, unas- sisted. We won the second game 2-1 and it was close all the way. Danny scored unassisted in the first and Daryl again from Mike Heasman in the second and they held on to defeat Hunts- ville 2-1. Our third game Saturday night was better still as we dropped Midland 6-3. Scoring was done by Rob Murphy (two), Scott Heffern, Shane Norton, Daryl McEnaney and Jay Strickert. Assists went to Dar- ryl (two), Rob (two) and Scott Heffern. The referees did not spend a lot of time trying to fig- ure out assists. This tied us with Bracebridge in third place and we advanced to the consolation finals Sunday at9a.m. This was an excellent game as the boys played well enough Port and Uxbridge tie The Scugog Overhead Door Pee Wee Bs travelled to Ux- bridge to battle their old rivals and a battle it was. Goalie Shane Savage played one of his best games to date making many fine stops be- tween the pipes. Unfortunately for the Doors, the Uxbridge goalies played equally as well and the game came down to a duel between both goaltenders. All three lines had numerous chances on some fine rushes across the oppositions blue line but just could not penetrate that final brick wall and the to win but came up just one goal short. We opened the scoring first on Daryl's goal which was as- sisted by Adam Jones and there was no more scoring until the second period when Brace- bridge tied it up. This carried into the third period when Bracebridge went ahead one minute into the period. Thirty seconds later, Rob Murphy fed Adam Jones who passed over to Mike Morden in the slot and Mike fired his first goal over a sprawling goalie to tie the game. Then Bracebridge scored three more in the next three minutes and it wasn't until 1:44 remaining that we responded. Mike Morden led a rush down left wing, passed to Seth who get up Scott Heffern and 14 sec- onds later, Rob led another rush down left wing and fed it out to Seth who netted his first and put us within one. With time running out, we ulled the goalie but Brace- Fridge managed to pop one in the open net. Kent Johnston and Luke Car- naghan shared the goal tending duties and kept us in all of the games. These guys are doing a great job between the pipes with a lot of saves usually reserved for NHL games on TV. Good games guys. The entire team played some exciting hockey and it makes us look forward to our next match. Door's defensive unit was there at the right time to help clear the puck after Shane made the initial saves. Both teams went hard at it using the body with some of the hardest checks we have seen all season and this writer would have to give the edge in play to the Port men but lady luck was not on anyone's side tonight and a great effort for both teams ended in a 0-0 tie. A fine effort by all the Door's men and more important... a to- tal team effort. Keep this up and the wins will come. a ----.,, - a
