aS Sd indie uC lh "A Family Tradition for 126 Years" La 4 PORT PERRY STAR - Tuesday, November 17, 1992 - 25 Pearce Auctioneers Novice team won two closely contested games this past weekend. On Friday night they played host to a hard skating Port Hope squad. Port Perry opened the scoring late in the first peri- od on a fine unassisted effort by Trevor Weisflock. Port Hope quickly tied the score only 16 seconds later. Strong goaltending, especially by Port Perry, produced shut- out hockey in the second period. Port Hope jumped ahead three minutes into the third pe- riod. This must have fired up hard shooting Dean Van Camp as he broke in 25 seconds later to tie the game. With only three minutes re- maining Trevor Lance complet- ed a fine passing play from Mike Lefort and Dane Grey. Trevor's goal proved to be the winner as the fine defensive play of Tim Jones and Gerrard Timmers "shut the door" on Port Hope for the remainder of the game. On Sunday the boys travelled to Sutton for an exhibition game. Dean Van Camp fired a shot into the Sutton net midway through the first period. Trevor Lance picked up a well deserved assist. The home team man- aged to tie the score only one minute later. Free wheeling forward Tre- vor Weisflock scored on a thigh, hard shot with one minute left in the first period. The second Auctioneers win two period proved to be all Port Perry as they continued to skate hard against the local team. Trevor Lance, in a skilled display of stick handling, broke through to score unassisted at the four minute mark of the sec- ond period. Not to be outdone, Dean Van Camp stretched the lead to 4-1 on a great goal from closein. The third period proved to be a tough one as Sutton continued to forecheck the Pearce Auction- eers in their own end. Sutton scored two more goals to narrow the lead to 4-3. Hard work and strong checking by Matt Sker- ratt and Michael Wiseman helped to hold the lead and se- cure the win for Port Perry.
