The third period was much 'like the first with both teams contributing their fair share of broken plays. With Port Perry holding a four goal lead, Gaylor scored a power-play goal to seal the win despite a late goal by Lake- field's Scott Booth. Although not fully satisfied with his team's play, Ryder couldn't help but be pleased with only allowing two goals. "We set a goal about a month ago to get our goals against down around three and our goals for up around five," he said. "In the last month we've done that." Goals for have yet to be a seri- ous problem for the MoJacks this year. Prior to Thursday, the MoJacks had scored 92 goalsin only 15 games. The game started off with an amaz- ing goal by Laura Hooker, unas- sisted in the bottom half of the first period. The Guardian Drugs girls played exceptionally well, with the defence Janna Senyk, Bon- ni-Jo Norton, Natasha Burgess and Brooke Shanley at their best, and the play stayed down in the Markham end with the help of Dana Hooker, Cara Vander Slagt, Heather Tred- way, Janine Hammond, Shona Moase and Laura Hooker. Katie Senyk, Guardian's amazing goalie had another awesome game, she saved some good shots but Markham man- aged to get one goal past Katie. The game was tied but not for long when Shona Moase took an awesome wrist shot assisted by Natasha Burgess and made the score 2-1 for the Guardian Tweens. While the Guardian Drug girls were hot with good passes and the plays that pys- ched the Markham team out and some good shots the Mark- ham goalie wasn't giving up. The two penalties didn't hurt the Tweens, Shona Moase came through with another goal and Guardian Drugs had a 3-1 victo- ry. Well done girls! Nursing Home Petites lose close 3-2 match After a seeding meeting, the Community Nursing Home Pe- tites knew they were in for a tough 'B' division game. The better teams in the league play 'B', the lesser teams were seed- ed in the 'C' division (rep teams playin the 'A" or 'AA' division). Jennifer Imrie opened the scoring in this fast paced, end- to-end and hard checking affair. Setting up Jennifer with a nice pass was Jennifer Donnelly. « Pickering struck for the next three goals in a contest that was as even as two teams can be. Port not to be denied fought back. Leanne Holt started a three way passing play that was centered by Leanne Davi- son and finished with a hard shot by Julia Leaman. The period ended with the Community Nursing Home girls trailing 3-2. Hard work and some excel- lent play brough the "Wrinkles" girls even. Lauren Christie playing some excellent defence moved the ring up ice to Jenni- Techstar win over On Wednesday night the Port 'Stars' were hosts to a strong team from Omemee and proved to be up to the challenge. Port Perry got on the board first on a goal by Jon Jamieson with assists to Matt Hobbs and Kevin Gray. Two minutes later the Stars struck again as Greg Thompson made the score 2-0 on a nice pass from Jeff Jamie- son. The third period ended with Omemee cutting the lead ADAM TECHNOLOGIES 985-2636 fer Hammond. Jennifer found Leanne Holt who slotted one into the lower.corner. With the game even, the teams even, it was going to take a break to decide the issue. Just under five minutes remained. The Pickering shot hot goalie Alicia Burgess in the left pad, ricocheted off the post and into the net. Port was not finished. With 46 seconds remaining, a time out was called and the goalie pulled for the extra skater (a new rule in Ringette). Port swarmed the Pickering net but were unable to generate the ty- ing goal. Excellent defence was played by Cathy Cooper and Miranda Burgess. Fine two-way forward play was displayed by Lisa Le- Fort and Melissa Hooker. We know now the Communi- ty Nursing Home Petites can play with the best in the league. Keep up the excellent individu- al effort and team play girls. You are playing a super game of Bantams Omemee in half with an assist to the ref- eree for the two minor penalties to Port. The second period began with Omemee tying the score at two before our Stars woke up, but when they did, wow! In the span of four minutes, 10 seconds, the home squad hit the twine four times. First Greg Thompson, then two by Kevin Gray and fi- nally Jon Jar ieson, assists went to Daryl Moase, Brad Mor- dan, Gord Bently and Matt Phillips. From the beginning of the third period it was evident that the visitors were not going to quit. They did manage three goals to make the final score of 6-5 respectable. The home squad played an- other team game, lots of good passing and unselfish plays to get up linemates rather than solo efforts. The three man defense of Gord Bently, Trevor Smith and Kent Taylor saw a lot of ice and were equal to the task tonight. Another great game all around. Let's stay focused guys.
