According to Debbie McGar- ry, manager of the CMH founda- tion, the publication will be pub- lished three times a year to inform its donors, staff, and board members of the hospital's current events. "Anybody who is interested in the hospital will receive a copy," Mrs. McGarry says. The first edition of the publi- cation saw a limited run of only 2,000 copies, which restricted the number of donors receiving the edition. Mrs. McGarry says there are 5,000 donors associat- ed with the hospital and there- fore only donors contributing more than $100 received the is- sue. "One of the benefits of being a donator over $100 is that you're on the list to receive it on a regu- lar basis," she says. Although there was a selected list of people who received the first copy, Mrs. McGarry says it is available at the hospital if anyone is interested in receiv- ingit. The purpose of "Pillar Talk" is to inform the donors, staff and community of the events that are taking place at their com- munity hospital, as well as rec- ognize the staff and volunteers behind the scenes. "It's an effective way to pro- mote what's going on at the hos- pital," she says. Mrs. McGarry says the news- letter will serve as a vital tool to inform the community of the events that are taking place at the expanding and changing hospital. For example, the $5- million expansion of the hospi- SOLVE YOUR CHRISTMAS PROBLEMS HERE! v Full range of photo services and accessories v Bargain priced cameras & video cameras by Canon & Minolta v/ Special reduced price Christmas film packs ¢ Frames - Albums v/ Tripods - Video Lights - Batteries 1 Hour Photo Processing Smiles above the rest in quallty and value RJM photographics 60 Water St., Port Perry 985-8821 VIDEO CAMERA RENTALS Meet the Artist Alberto de Castro Sunday, November 29th 1:30pm to 3:30pm Support our hospital through the purchase of "The Ice Palace" Limited Edition Print = FRAMER'S GALLERY 237 Queen St., Port Perry 985-2543 tal, including the Stephen B. Roman Wing, will be featured on a continual basis. The publication will also serve to inform its readers of trends in the medical field. Hospital staff and volunteers, as well as professional writers, will contribute. Mrs. McGarry says the name "Pillar Talk" is very appropriate to the overall aim of the newslet- ter and therefore much thought was put into it before it was fi- nally selected. Photography club exhibit at the library The Scugog Photography Club will be exhibiting its work during a two-week show at the Scugog Memorial Library. Titled "A Moment In Time", the show will feature the photo- graphs of about 20 of the club's members. No single theme overrides the exhibit. Club members have chosen a collage of subjects as their focus including wildlife, animals, people, landscapes, and flowers. There is a mix of both color and black and white photographs. Many of the framed photo- graphs will be for sale. The club has also put together a book of prints. The public is welcome to browse through the book and purchase reprints of the photo- graphs. The show runs from Satur- day, Nov. 28, to Saturday, Dec. 12. Members of the Scugog Pho- tography Club will welcome guests during an artists' recep- tion at the library on Saturday, Nov. 28 from 2-4 p.m. While you're in town for the Santa Claus Parade, drop by the library and meet the photo- graphers. for faster service * liye Exams Arranged * Lab Service on premises » Everyday low prices # Gift Certificates available # Stocking Stuffer Accessories » Name Brand Sunglasses 985-9388 or 985-4679 28 Water Street S She explains donors provide the Ao or pillars of a successful hospital and are im- portant components which keep the unit building together as a cohesive unit. "When you think about a pil- lar, it's the foundation of a build- ing," she says. According to Mrs. McGarry they tried to stay away from the corporate image and instead sought a more personal feeling. The plans for the publication began more than a year ago, but it was not until the last couple of months that it began to take 1 \ WASNT 24% NS VARI § IORI 1 NK) L$ 7 } LF SH " Lf, ~ AR CRs Ne A Ene he 2.8 6 SY ID =K NN yee Nhe ARN C3 RY IN shape.
