Funny but it's always Archie's favorite, (chocolate). On Saturday, the Ruhl family were all home to enjoy a Christ- mas turkey dinner. Just 18 to sit at the family table. Merry Christmas. There will be about 70 stu- dents from Epsom P.S. partici- pating in downhill skiing this year. There will be a miscellaneous bridal shower for Tammy Denu- den Dec. 10 at the home of Alice Lee. All ladies in the communi- ty are invited. This will be your only invitation. So I hope to see you there. Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. On Dec. 8 the Ulw will meet at the church at noon for our Christmas Pot Luck - Good Luck Dinner. The Goodwood la- dies will join us. On Dec. 6 the Women's Insti- tute will meet at 1 p.m. at Mari- lyn Stroud"s home to finish our workshop, "Entertaining with a Flair." This will be a noon luncheon. Gladys Evans hosted her family Christmas gathering at Uxbridge Health Care Centre on Sunday. Ross and Barbara Evans called on Dorothy and Ray Munro recently. Mrs. Andy Hertzburg lost her father who passed away last week in Florida where he had gone to spend the winter. Our sympathy, Joy. Mrs. Rose Kscenica is still in Port Perry hospital but hopes to move to nursing home in the near future. At our W.1. meeting last week we took a step back in time as we were greeted at the door by Mrs. Erlana Lee (Marg Beat- tie). Our commentator for the evening was John Lee (Anne Beare). We were treated to the historic occasion of the first Women's Institute meeting held at Stoney Creek nearly 100 years ago. Adelaide Hood- less, Doreen Pickett and Ethel Chapman, Eileen Markle were in attendance and looked charming in their 1890 authen- tic dress to complete the atmos- phere. Best wishes to Nancy Hill and quick recovery in Oshawa General Hospital. Brooklin Church was alive with music where our Epsom Choir joined Brooklin Anglican Choir for an evening of music. Karen Skelding played a flute solo. We are sorry to learn that Dianne Nottingham was ab- sent due to illness as she has such a beautiful voice and her solo was missed. Sunday was the first of Ad- vent. The first candle was lit by Jane Soble and daughter Re- becca. It was the candle of Hope. June and CIiff Bertram of Scarborough were weekend guests with their daughter Joanne Hansen and family. Barbara Evans and Corrine Croxall all journeyed to Quebec City last week to attend the na- tional conference on Farm Women Employment. This con- ference was organized jointly by the Federation des Agricul- turices of Quebec, The National Farmers' Union and Canadian Farm Women's Network, The Federated Womens Institute of Canada and the Canadian Fed- eration of Canada. A beautiful marriage was sol- emnized at Epsom Church Sat- urday, Nov. 28 when a small group of close friends and rela- tives gathered. Rev. Edith Ann Schantz solemnized the mar- riage vows of Kimberly (Brown) Ellicott and Daniel Smith. The beautiful bride wore pink and was escorted down the aisle by her son Derek. They were preceded by the ring bear- ers, Dan's children Leslie and Aaron Smith. The matron of honor was Darlene Christie. The best man was Dan's broth- er, Lee Smith. The personalized ceremony resulted in 'not a dry eye in the house,' was followed by a happy family gathering at the home of Kim's sister Melodie and her husband Bernie Aldred of Greenbank. All of Kim's sisters and broth- ers were present except brother Chris of Vancouver. Sister Shelley of Victoria, B.C. came the farthest. The bride and groom will live in Greenbank. Richard and April Watson and Ed and Ann Watson of Ux- bridge were supper guests on Sunday with Betty and Nor- man Tapscott. Greenbank students see Phantom of the Opera Last Wednesday, 96 stu- dents, staff and parents from Greenbank/Epsom School at- tended the Phantom of the Op- era, in Toronto at the Pantages Theatre. They enjoyed the Edu- cation Program in the morning tracing the history of the Pant- ages Theatre, viewing scenes about backstage preparations, hiring procedures and rehear- sals then took part in a ques- tion/answer period of two mem- bers of the cast. After lunching at Mr. Greenjeans Restaurant in Eaton's Centre, they re- turned to the theatre for the play. Everyone had a great day and thoroughly enjoyed the show. At Friday's assembly, Grade 4/6 students displayed their glassworks art that they made when at a workshop at Hopkins. Grades 2/3 performed their storytelling. The students had been practicing telling a few of their favorite stories accompa- nied by stick puppet characters that they created. All other stu- dents enjoyed their tales. Grade 6 is completing a news- paper and multicultural studies unit presented by the Toronto Star. The junior boys and girls vol- leyball tournaments are this Thursday, Nov. 26. The boys tournament is at Greenbank School at 3:30 p.m. The girls tournament is being held at S.A. Cawker P.S. with a team from Cawker, Cartwright P.S., Epsom P.S. and Greenbank P.S. Good luck to all competitors. Santa will be at Seagrave Store Dec. 12 phone call and asked if they wish tickets. Best wishes and congratula- tions to Clarence and Gretel Cameron as they celebrated their 30th wedding anniver- sary. Their daughter and son took them out for dinner and when they returned home a house full of people were there to start a wonderful surprise party. Mrs. Darlene Hill, Alexis Stevenson and Tricia Wray presented an enjoyable skit "The Treasure Hunt," a time for offering ourselves and our gifts. : The first Advent candle of Hope was lit by Cameron and Rebecca MacDonald. Everyone enjoyed the choir as they sang "Christ Is Com- ing." Next Sunday, Dec. 6, the Christmas Family Night will start at 7 p.m. at the church. A social time is planned to follow, arranged by the Sunday School children and teachers. Ladies are asked to take squares or cookies. All are welcome. That's all for this week.
